Question about 1997 Pontiac Trans Sport

1 Answer

1997 Pontiac transport no power to fuel pump or start. VAn was driven to gas station then filled up.No start just cranked.fuel pump would not run.Fuse good relay is good.Pulled tank replaced pump assembly.Which fixed the non working guage.Reinstalled the tank hooked everything up,and then tried to start the engine.Fuel pump would not come on to prime system. All fuses are good except for the "ECM sense" replaced it and then tried to start it.Pump came on and then off several times for about one second.Sounded like it had a bad connection.Still no start when cranking. No pump run at all when the key is turned on just like before.fuses are all still good. Van would fire with a shot of ether in the intake.Ran the pump on a jumper wire and tried to start van,but no luck. Acts as if the injectors are not working and also not letting the pump run?I know nothing of GM vehicles so I am at a loss. Any ideas to try?

I ran my 98 Pontiac Transport out of gas. I had to replace battery. I put 9 gals of gas in. I can't get van to start.

you need to get the air out of the fuel line. on the fuel line there is a valve take the cap off and push the pin down until fuel come out. when it does it will come out with some preusser. then try to start engine. if not start do it again to the valve. until no air in system.

I have a 97 transport van. Is the fuel pump

1997 model just work with the 1997 fuel pump; the same situation with the 1998 model and 1996 model.

For other years, they can interchangeable, as Transport 1990-1995.

Hope helps (remember rated this).

1997 G30 van will not start

I've swapped the fuel pump relay with another similar relay. It sounds like the pump is bad, but I would check the actual fuel pressure.

My 1997 pontiac transport van will not start

CHECK FOR FUEL AND SPARK FIRST.
CHECK ALL THE CONNECTORS ON EVERYTHING, ESPECIALLY THE IGNITION MODULE CONNECTIONS. THE CRANK SENSOR OFF THE BACK OF THE ENGINE COMES UP ALONG THE FUEL LINES AND CONNECTS TO THE IGNITION MODULE.

Bad gas van wont run

undo fuel pipe where it exits the fuel pressure regulater and turn engine over , use bucket and rag to catch pumped fuel , do this for half gallon and reconnect ,, then take spark plugs out and clean with easy start (eather) and replace , should start fine now ,

97 gtp turns over wont start..fuel pump runs enermidintly

yep i seen it in happen .i was at a gas station a guy drove car to the gas station on empty.he fill his tank up .could not get it to crank .some cars you have to restart fuel pump when run out of gas. like chrysler.you use a scanner. but chervrolet you run low over heat damage the pump.it has to stay submerge gas to keep it cool. check fuel pump pressure.it should be 41 - 47 psi.
