Question about 2000 Chevrolet Tracker
Without wishing to be disrespectful in any way, it means exactly what it says.
The engine management system has either detected a fault which needs attention in order to prevent damage to your engine, or (more likely) a countdown timer of time/mileage has sensed that one or more service items are due for inspection or replacement (e.g. spark plugs, air/oil/fuel filters, engine oil and coolant, engine drivebelts/timing chain etc.). The only way to find out what the message refers to is to get the vehicle to a garage with a diagnostic computer.
If you have been fully attentive to the servicing needs of your car then all that is needed is to get the service indicator reset. Any garage with a decent diagnostic computer can do this for you in minutes or you may wish to buy a gadget online to DIY. What you absolutely should not do though is to reset the warning without attending to the servicing requirements: at best this will end up costing you a lot of money when something fails and at worst it could cause you to have an accident on the road with all the consequences which may result to you and others.

Stop at one of the major Auto Parts stores that offers to read the codes for free and ask them to connect their code reader to your vehicle. The Scanner they use will identify the code and you can use that to identify what needs replaced. Auto Zone and Advance Auto are 2 common ones that do this.
