You either have a bad battery or a bad connection at the battery.

2007 Dodge Grand Caravan. Plenty of battery power. Doesn't start. Doesn't crank. Turning the key results only in a soft 'click' sound.

Check your battery leads - make sure they aren't corroded and have broken strands.

Also - in particular - check the cleanliness and tightness of the black earth cable where it attaches to the engine block/bodywork. The symptoms you describe can be caused by a poor earth connection.

As a quick check - attach a booster cable to the battery negative terminal and attach the other end to a suitable earth point (I.e.. a clean bolt..) on the engine block or bodywork. Try and start the car .. if it starts .. you have a bad battery earth

Hello I have a 1993 Ford Festiva and it is not starting at all. The engine is not clicking over. Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be? The more replies the better thank you

Have you tried jump starting it? is there twelve Volta at the battery when you try to start it? Is there 12 volts on the small wire on the starter when you try to start it? Have You tried replacing the battery? If the battery is good, there is power to the starter on the large wire, and power on the small wire when the key is in the start position than replace the starter. All the alternator does is supply power to the vehicle after the vehicle is started and recharge the battery. It doesn't have anything to do with the car not starting. I should add that I would make sure the engine turns over by hand. If there was a problem with the engine not turning over you should at least hear a single click from the starter which it doesn't sound like that is happening. Let me know what you find mate!

Starting problem. Engine will not turn.

If you've checked everything else, and it's all fine, then my only suggestion would be to take it in. Possible fuel pump problem maybe? Not sure if that would cause a clicking sound or not.

Battery was dead and tried to start after charging, starter solenoid clicked and engine turn over slowly without starting. Now engine will not turn over. Battery is charged have power to all accessories...

okay, think of it this way,you tried starting, engine turned slowly,no start.....then you charged battery, engine wont turn over(although accessories work)WHY WAS THE BATTERY DEAD TO START WITH.Try a jump start(another battery)if it starts then you know what im going to say.....

WONT START, BATTERY IS UP. MAKES CLICKING SOUND.

if the clicking sound comes from the solenoid when you try to start the engine the solenoid may need replacing, the solenoid is like a big switch that takes the power from the battery to the starter motor, inside it there contacts that come together to make contact & that is where the problem is.....hope this helps.....cheers

2002 jaguar x type wont start, lights, radio, air have power. clicking sound when turning the key to start the engine. Engine light stays, no engine turnover

Hi .
unlikely to be immobiliser fault ,so check basics, try a set of jump leads or check battery voltage above 12.5,if the clicking is coming from the starter motor with a fully charged battery then suspect starter motor failure.

My 1998 outback will sometimes start and sometimes will not. There is power going to the battery and after 10+ tries the car may start. When shutting off the engine and trying to restart the car it repeats...

the clicking sound is the starter solenoid on the starter, replace it, the contacts are burnt that engage and supply the starter motor with power to spin the engine over, this is a very common problem on Japanese starters.
