Question about 1994 Chevrolet K1500

1994 silverdo 75000 miles wont chane into high all time sometimes it wont move when changing into higher gear **** when you stop cut off it runs good next time happens about once a week thinking computer problems?

Sounds like a symptom of a low fluid level or either a clogging filter. Change your fluid and the filter, and see if this doesnt alleviate your problem.

simple test to do
apply the hand brake
start the engine --if it idles ok --no engine problem
apply the foot brake --if it stalls ---replace the brake booster
if it runs ok --run the fault codes

You could have a shop check pump pressure - usually the cause is a weak pump or problems with the valve body.
Chances are if you just sit in drive at idle, it will also move on its own in a couple of minutes once the fluid warms up.
I never recommend changing fluid after 100k.

The tranny filter is probably clogged up. Cold Fluid has a hard time going thru filter but hot oil will go thru easier. Have trannyoil and filter changed

1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 auto. At start up the trans pump sounds like lack of fluid whine. Put into gear & it drives for few minutes then slips to the point of stopping, if left idling it...


Likely it's better to leave the bands alone. The servos have plenty of travel and unless it was "hammering" into gear (from excessive clearance there) likely adjusting them won't do much. Pan rail is stamped pretty deep...carb cleaner wont clean it up enough to read?
Replacing the filter may help if it's plugged up. If not, don't bother replacing it...problem is internal and filter won't change much of anything.
You can only partially replace the fluid because the converter has no drain. Therefore, use cheap oil and a container of lucas conditioner. If it helps, do the change again at 3,000 miles and use a higher quality fluid along with another lucas.
If you can't get the unit #, buy both filter kits and make note of which is for what transmission. Return the unused one.

My 1992 Nissan Terrano/Pathfinder wont move in any gear. It will go to the gear but just wont move. Its an automatic


Check that the high / low lever is fully in position, if it has been bumped or popped half way between high and low, then then you will not have any drive.

Climate has as much to do with your choice of motor oil as the amount of miles on the engine. If you live in a cold climate and your winter temps are often below freezing, you'll want to go with a lighter oil that will circulate better in the cold temperatures. Conversely, in a hot climate, a heavier oil that won't break down in viscosity would be a good choice. As far as the mileage goes, most oils are about the same and as long as you change your oil often, whatever oil you choose based on climate should suit you and the car well. I would first begin with a good tune up with new plugs wires cap, rotor, check coil. injector can be clog also, try to add bottle of fuel injectors cleaner and add 93 octane of gas fill it half way and run it til empty and see that will also help. If you have high miles like over 100k have timing check, its good idea to change timing belt every 75-10k miles, if it jump time due to worn belt, the car will not run properly.

Engine problem


Sounds like its time for a tune up.Check plug wires for arcing.Best time for that is dark.You really want to be careful putting detergents in that high milaged of engine you could get a nosier engine or motor failure.If wires check out alright look at plugs.They may be worn out....
