Possible Torque convertor lock up problem, the lock up circuit could be bad, or your losing pump pressure...mainly to the lock up circuit inside the tranny.

You have to tear the transmission down. And without special tools and Equipment, it isnt doable at home.

I have a 2009 VW Crafter loon wheelbase mini bus with gearbox problems. I believe it has an 'HQT' model box. It revs at 3,000RPM at 62 MPH. Is there a higher ratio gearbox that can be fitted.

check around gear box repair shops to see if there is a replacement box that has an overdrive gear (5th)
if it is an automatic , the problem may be that overdrive is not coming in and that will drop the rpm 250 rpm and increase the speed up to the 75 mph mark
there is nothing wrong in the box as the rpm and the speed are about right in relation to the diff ratio(not mentioned )
3200 rpm with a overdrive manual runs around 74 mph or 120 km/hr
another method is to put a diff in with a taller ratio
example --current 4.1 back to 3.2

How do I know that my toyota camry sv40 is in overdrive?

Hello, some models have an O/D indicator light on the dashboard, if it is on or the selector is set to the O/D position and it is working correctly you sill see a slight decrease of engine rpm between about 45 and 65 mph depending on throttle application, it usually drops about 300 rpm when overdrive is engaged, if the rpm stays the same as speed is increased above 50 mph the O/D is not working.

1994 Buick Custom Regal 3.8L I changed ****** Filter and fresh fluid in it will go fine Thanks. But now at 60 mph rpm is 3,900.Maybe the overdrive is out? Any suggestion. Thanks.

Just having overdrive out would make it rev that high. It sounds like ur stuck in maybe 2nd gear. Did you add to much trans fluid possibly?

to kick down a gear and run smooth is normal, specially for an older car. what you can do is buy a higher octane fuel, as you already did the plugs

Car will not shift into overdrive

As a response to solution #1 these cars do have an overdrive while in D-4, mine was shifting in and out at 70 mph until it finally quit and the rpm is now 3100 at 70 mph insted of 2700. The car still shifts 4 full times just not the fifth-OD. I still can't find out what fixes this problem either.
