The auto leveling switch for the back may be not adjusted correctly or damaged.

There are two types, mechanical for older Cadillacs from say the 1970s which bleed the air off, or electrical which sends a signal to a bleed valve to allow air to come out of the system and allow the rear to not be so high (and to not run the electrical compressor).

DO I TURN OFF THE AIR RIDE ON 2004 LINCOLN TOWNCAR TO CHANGE THE TIRES

yes if the wheels are going to be of the ground for any length of time, the suspension will keep trying to level the car and will get stuck in the high position..

1989 Lincoln continental ride control not responding. compressor was replace after vehicle sat for several years. all air was out of system. installed new compressor. turn on key car leveled. front of car...

YOU NEED A STAR 2 TESTER 007 - 0041 - A OR DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT THAT IS EQUIVALENT TO TURN ON AIR COMPRESSOR TO TEST AND REGULATE AIR TO AIR SPRINGS. ALSO RESET THE AIR SPRING COMPUTER.IF YOU NEED TO RELEASE AIR FROM AIR SPRINGS TURN OFF AIR SUSPENSION SWITCH.THEN REMOVE AIR SPRING SOLENOID RETAINING CLIP,ROTATE THE SOLENOID COUNTERCLOCKWISE TO FIRST STOP, THEN PULL SOLENOID STRAIGHT OUT SLOWLY TO THE SECOND STOP UNTIL ALL AIR BLEEDS OUT AIR SPRING, THEN REMOVE THE SOLENOID. YOU COULD HAVE DAMAGED FRONT AIR SPRINGS WHEN YOU CHANGED OIL WITH OUT TURNING OFF AIR SUSPENSION.WHICH CAUSED AIR SPRINGS OVER EXPAND DAMAGING THEM.

The front leveling sensor is bad how do you override the air ride system

there is no way to over ride the leveling system, there is a shut off switch, but if shut off in time the air will be depleted out of the system and will bottom out the suspension and cause damage to other components and also the vehicle will be riding very low to the ground, leaving the leveling sensor without repair will in time the air ride pump. hope this helps

I have a 2001 continental i put a engine in and to many trips on the hoist without turning suspension off has the car sitting very high and riding like a truck is there a way to reset it?

Try turning off the suspension, and if that does not work there should be a bleeder valve around the Airpump. Just let all the air out.

You may have "stretched" a body sensor out of position. The book says to park the car on a level surface and measure the distance from the body to the ground on each side. You would have to do end to end, bring the back level with the front or whatever pitch you want. I would affect the Headlight aim if it is too far off

What is ride level on 1990 cadillac brougham

Ride level is exactly what it says it is. It has an electronic suspension system with air shocks which monitors the ride hight and adjust it as needed due to road conditions or speed, to make the ride quality more comfortable

Forgot toi turn the air suspension off when

Remove battery, remove windshield washer bottle, remove air compressor and disconnect both air lines from the compressor dryer. Make sure compressor electrical wiring is plugged in, install battery, turn suspension switch to ON, turn ignition switch to the ON position, close all door and the compressor should come on and completely lower the whole truck. Once the truck is completely down, turn the ignition OFF, remove battery and connect both air lines. Install battery ensure electrical wiring is plugged in, turn ignition switch to ON, the compressor should come on and raise the vehicle to the correct ride height.

1 Answer

Stuck in high position

On this model vehicle the rear shockers should have air bags to keep car at normal ride height, when load changes.
The air bag can sometimes become caught between inner and outer tubes of shocker when car is raised and lowered quickly.
You will need to jack car up from tow hitch or frame to lower rear axle, this will unfold air bag, slowly lower car, with ignition on, this will make sure air compressor is filling air bags as they take the load.
Hope this is helpful, MMP
