gas it self cant freeze but if the gas has water in it that will freeze if your using cheap gas you probly have gas in it a bottle of heat or gas additive that will take water out of it will help. as far as the check engine light goes the only real way to tell what that is by having a shop scan it.

Which anti-freeze goes in a 2001 4.7L dodge durango? Mechanic told me the green one I 've been using is wrong one. Should be a blue one.

Your Dodge requires extended life HOAT coolant. Your mechanic is correct, you should not be using the Green coolant which is conventional coolant. You also cannot use DexCool or a universal coolant. Zerex G-05 HOAT coolant is what you need to use and it is yellow. You can also just buy MOPAR HOAT coolant from your dealer. The HOAT stands for (hybrid organic acid technology). You must use this type coolant.

Where is the thermostat located on a 2000 dodge durango

Follow your upper radiator hose from the radiator to the top of your engine, there where it clamps on is the thermostat housing, remove hose and two or three small bolt's that hold thermostat housing under that is where the thermostat is at. Remmeber that the spring side of the thermostat is what goes into the engine side, facing down.

Dodge Durango water hose leak

Not sure what hose you are talking about, but if it is a small hose that goes to the over flow tank you need to replace it. No matter which hose it is in this case it needs to be replaced, and any coolant (anti-freeze) needs to be replenished. You will keep loosing coolant until it is fixed. The coolant system is under pressure and will push out any coolant that is left in the system. This is like oil the engine needs to function properly.
