It's normal for temperatures to get over 212 deg. F (boiling) and as high as 220 deg to 230 deg. in some cases, on hot days.

I would make sure there is enough coolant in the system by filling it through the overlfow tank.

And, that the mixture is 50/50 coolant to water ratio by volume.

GM cars seem to run hotter than boiling, in my experience, but that's why the ethylene glycol coolant is added to prevent boilovers and to work well in the pressurized system which helps to cool the engine down better than a non-pressurized system.

What temp is your themostat that is your temp it should run at it could be 210

no the thermostat must be working or your engine would not heat up, check to see if your heater hoses are hot if only one is hot you need a heater core, but check your coolent level if the van gets low on coolent it will not let any get to the heater thehope engine keeps it all to keep the engine cool....hope this helps

get the antifreeze that mixes with any color you should be fine also make sure you bleed the system get the air out of the cooling system there should be a petcock to bleed it with,crank let get operating temp.open petcock till steady stream runs out close pc your done.

How do u get all theair out of the cooling system when u bleed it?


there will be two little plugs on the cooling tube on the front side of the motor. when the engine is running. open them one at a time until u get straight antifreeze. you may have to do this a few times

fluctuation in temperature is usualy from low coolent level. a sticky thermastat could also be the culprit.

2001 vlove s-40, After turnig the key off the cooling fan stays running for 8-10 minute, even when cold.... ????


thats normal . if the coolent temp reachs 210 the fans come on and run intell the coolent temp drops to 190

the thermostat should be closed when you take it out, therefore the thermostat is bad. It does not closed.

Overheating


Posible thermastat sticking closed. If thermastat doesn't open heated water is trapped in the engine causing it to run hot and not allowing hot water to travle to the heater core when called for.
