It's normal for temperatures to get over 212 deg. F (boiling) and as high as 220 deg to 230 deg. in some cases, on hot days.

I would make sure there is enough coolant in the system by filling it through the overlfow tank.

And, that the mixture is 50/50 coolant to water ratio by volume.

GM cars seem to run hotter than boiling, in my experience, but that's why the ethylene glycol coolant is added to prevent boilovers and to work well in the pressurized system which helps to cool the engine down better than a non-pressurized system.

I have a 98 Ford windstar 2.8 litter. v6 the dash tempature goes to where it suppose to be but when i turn on teh heat I have no heat, just cold air. Is this a cuse of teh thermastat staying open all teh...

no the thermostat must be working or your engine would not heat up, check to see if your heater hoses are hot if only one is hot you need a heater core, but check your coolent level if the van gets low on coolent it will not let any get to the heater thehope engine keeps it all to keep the engine cool....hope this helps

Posible thermastat sticking closed. If thermastat doesn't open heated water is trapped in the engine causing it to run hot and not allowing hot water to travle to the heater core when called for.
