When I put my F150 2003 on max a/c, no cold air comes out of the panel vents (it does come thru the defrost vents)..When I put it on vent, air comes thru the vents but not cold air.

SOURCE: Vent control

You have a vacuum leak.Defrost is the default postion(no vacuum).
See if you can locate the small black vacuum line that goes inside the vehicle on the passenger side near the heater core. The trace it back, should see it going to a canister then to the intake manifold.Make sure it is not disconnected or broken somewhere.

SOURCE: Ford F150 2003 When I press the max cool on the AC the air comes out of the windshield defrost vent iinstead of the cabin vents and is not as cold as it use to be. Summer in Texas Help !

You did not mention if the system you have is electronic(digital control) or manual(control knobs) but what your problem is, is a vacuum leak. Defrost and heat or the default postions for no vacuum. If it works ok until you press max air Then you will need to check the outside blend door vacuum motor. It will be the white vacuum line going from the control head.

SOURCE: vents don't open when I turn on max A/C

I had the same problem on my 2003 CV, took it to ford and found out it was the AC controller. The controller is the part you see on your dash, that allows you to switch between heat/ac etc.. Watch for the cost though, To have a new controller installed was approx $750

SOURCE: why does the ac on my 2003 ford f150 blow through the defroster

Most likely it is a vacuum problem. That's what controls the air flow flaps.

SOURCE: ac blows through defroster on max

The Climate control system in your truck has a gate that changes postition in order to change the flow of air from your face to defrost. The door is actuated by vacuum. Yours is still working otherwise it would be on defrost all the time. So you do have partial vacuum to the actuator but not enough to keep it in position when on high. Sounds like you have a vacuum leak but not bad enough (yet) to totally disable the gate.

The problem is either an actuator or the door associated with it. Sometimes the gear strips, especially when the system goes thru a recalibrate after power has been removed and reapplied. Below is a diagram of the locations of the actuators.

Most of A/C air is coming out of defrosting vent. Could there be a switch malfunct.

Do an internet search for "blend door repair" - - - the blend doors direct air thru the heater core and evaporator core along with the vents.

Air blowing out floor and defrost vents but not not front vents

Sounds like a blend door problem. The vacuum from the engine opens and closes the door that directs air flow thru the vents.
I would guess the door is stuck in the middle of the range or something is blocking it.
The blend door(s) is behind the glove box.

I cannot get any air, hot or cold, fresh or a/c, to come thru the vents in the dash. Floor vents and defrost are the only source of air flow. What now ???

When i use the normal A/C Or Max A/C, cold air comes out like normal. When I turn to floor or panel/floor, it seems like the a/c is still blowing. Am I missing something here? Isn't there a fresh air vent...

could have a vent not opening properly. be sure nothing has fallen down defrost vent. as you change positions on dial should change where air comes out.

Air blows out thru the vents but just no hot air, aslo i have to hit the dash for the air to come out thru the dash vents at times.

sounds like bad acuator motor, this is what moves the door in heater box to set hot or cold air, and other motors to set air to blow thru defrost, vent or floor. good luck.

This car has the automatic temperature control system

The hot/cold switch is probably bad.you have a blend door box that opens to let the cold air in and closes to let the hot air in.From what you are saying this part is no responding to the switch movement.Make sure power is at the switch and power should go through the switch when put on cold air this moves the blend door. Some times the blend door goes bad and has to be replaced its under the dash on the right side.
