Question about 1998 Jeep Cherokee
The fuel pump relay should be under the hood in the relay center. There is a black box that contains you relays.
Have you check for fuel pressure? Can you hear your pump run with key in on position (do not start) just turn key to on and see if you can hear the pump.
You can use a voltmeter and test the power to the pump also to the relay as well.
If you find you do have gas, than you likely don't have spark which could be the crankshaft position sensor.
Some of these vehicles have a fuel pump safety shut off valve on the passenger side kick panel that accidently get shut off as well.
