SOURCE: mouse smell when fan is on in 2002 Honda Civic

the blower motor is located under the dash on the passenger side below the glove box. remove the 3 gold color screws with a flathead screwdriver or an 8mm socket and ratchet. there is also one electrical connector. this will allow the blower motor to drop down and you will most likely find a mouse or other debri. hope this helps

SOURCE: We have something lodged in the A/C blower fan.

You can take blower motor out from pass. footwell area.
It's under dashboard , behind glove box , close to right corner. Three screw holding the assembly (I think it's three). From under dash it looks like round plate with screws at outer edge.

Testimonial: "You were right on the money with location, etc. The screw at the back (front, actually) portion of the assembly was a beast to get out due to tight quarters, but I finally got it. Thanks for the great help!"

My 2003 TrailBlazer has a foul smell from the air system. What could be causing this smell? It's a sour smell not a dead animal smell. Is there a cabin air filter? I've read several posts and some say...

you can buy a deoderiser that kills all known airborn nasties, you spray it into the air inlet of any aircon unit, the only smell that it will NOT get rid of is cigarette smoke.that sticks to the filter/condenser and all the vents...nasty.

2001 hyundai accent, horrible smell from vents

Did you buy the car new ? could it have been in flood watter? if it wear a dead mouse, I'm sure the smell would have been gone by now, , is the car losing any antifreeze, is there any mustier or wet spots on the floor? if you are losing antifreeze it would most likely be the heater core. otherwize if you run the A/C could be dampness from the drain being plugged up if A/c.is working properly on hot days should see watter on grownd under car front passenger side, has there been a windshield put in that you know of? hope this helped feel free to ask should you have any moor info. Thank You.

I own a 1998 plymouth voyger 3.0 engine, when i turn the cabin fan motor both using ac or heat, an unpleasant odor comes out of the vent openings. I have tried over the counter ''odor away'' type product...

Hi, If I knew more of what kind of an odor you smell might help? Does it have any effect on the power of the blower motor in heat or cool as far as the speed or any noise as a bearing, burned wiring smell? I am just trying to nail down possibly a problem in the motor. If not, what I think may have happened if it is like a dead rodent smell, something may have crawled in around the blower wheel and past away if this is the kind of smell you have. This motor is the same for both heat and cool. If you want to get down to the blower motor, you will need to go both from under the dash and firewall to excess the motor. If it is a dead mouse lets say, it is either going in to find it which it could even be in any one of the air vents?? May be hard to locate it. If its the motor windings going out, you will know this smell as it would be like burned electrical wiring and the motor would be giving you problems. If this smell is more like a rodent smell, you may have to ride it out as it will in time dry completely out and go away? You have done what most all of us would do in this situation. Take a mouse for instance. They can come in from a field outside and go just about anywhere they want to in your car. If one did go up in to the enclosed air system which there are openings that they can squeeze into and die, chances are you would have to remove all of the duct work and blower housing to find it. Instead of using sweet smelling deodorants, check with a local janitorial supply house that have commercial products that they can recommend to you in this case and take care of this problem? It would be worth the time to do this, that's for sure! Something that they can blow down around the air intake under the hood that wont harm you or the system, be sure of that. I would say that either wait if its the smell I think, try the supply wholesale house, or the most time consuming and $$$ way is to remove all of the duct work and blower housing to try and find it. I hope this has been of some help to you, I'm sure it is very frustrating to have to smell this. Keep me posted on it please. Good Luck,
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7

09 sonata with 1000mils on it with a/c off foul smell comes from ventilation system with fan on. no problem when a/c is on

Does it smell like a dead animal? or just moldy mildew smell? If dead animal, get it out. If mold/mildew smell, treat it with an AC ventilation dodorizer.

My girlfriend has a 2004 Vibe AWD Recently we have noticed a smell coming from the vents like an aniaml got in the air system. However i cannot find the cabon filter "if it exsists" My 2008 vue has one....

The cabin air filter is behind the glove box usually. If you live some where that there is a lot of small ground animals, like in CA, we have damn ground squirrels. Check under the main air filter in the motor bay too, I found a dead mouse in one so I would check both.

Auto zone sells stuff that you can buy if its just mold in the vent housings and in the air ducts. you have yo run the heater on hot and high to ge the moisture out then after you run it for 15-20 min spray the mildew killer in to it. .....Best of Irish luck to you on that one, it took me a month to find that mouse.

Heater/air conditioner fan makes noise/vibrations when on

Open your hood and look down between the radiator and engine, then check to your left near the windshield wiper fluid reservoir. Find your serpentine belt on the left, and make sure there are no remnants of a critter in the belt path.

Horrible smell coming out of the ac system

disconnection your fan has 3-4 screws and check for a dead mouse or two and bits of dried grass. They like to build nest in there. If your car sits for extended amounts of time that seems to be when the animals call it home. It was not a pleasant job for me to get them out you just have to get rubber gloves and do it.
