The second fan may come on at a higher temp ... ? You don't mention the model year. I know this technique has been used by Honda over the years. It saves 'energy' and improves efficiency.

It could be the fuse, relay, wiring or thermostat connection.

Where are cooling relays?

Hello. Your car's cooling fan relays are somewhere in the fusebox/relay box. Also, your car has a 'fan switch' on the thermostat housing. If the 'fan switch' is in operable, the cooling fans won't work. It can be the thermostat housing seal/gasket. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

Runs hot cooling fan doesnot cut on

there is another coolant temp sensor that is a normally open switch. It closes when it reaches a certain temp and turns the fan on. If you are not getting 12 volts at your fan motor and your fuse is good for this circuit than you have a bad "automatic switch". that will need to be replaced

Cooling fans will not come on

Hi,

Fan Relay switch is stuck open. This of course assumes your temperature sensor is working appropriately. Which I assumed since you seem to know that the engine is running hot.

Replace the fan relay switch. The relay switch is tripped when the temperature sensor tells the computer the engine is too hot.

Until you get the relay switch replaced, you can either by-pass the relay switch and directly connect the fans to the battery, or turn on your A/C ALL the time and use it at a minimum setting. This will keep the cooling fans running at all times.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

2003 malibu cooling fans don't work. I have replace the relay and the temp sensor and still nothing. When ever I disconnect the temp sensor the fans come on and work normally, but later in the day I see...

okay pull the temp sensor connector ( disconnect it) and turn car on if the fans run then its the temp sensor.... part # wt3000.
Theres also 3 relays that turn the fans on in the fuse box cooling mode fan relay @15 which is part number 7234. and cooling one # 1 which is 3604, and cooling fan #2 which is 7236.
I have the same car...give me a fan clutch cooling system anyway of the week. simple and efective no problems.

Cooling fan won't work

hello,

cooling fan not working could be a lot of things.

first , test the fan itself, put a direct 12 volts to the fan terminal and watch if it would run.( be careful of the blades ), if it does not run, could be carbon brush. replace if necessary.

if it runs, check relay circuits. one for A/C and the other one for high temperature of engine.

check also for fuses with label " cooling fan" or "radiator fan". check all fuses just to be sure.

tnx 4 using Fixya,
