My emergency flashers are acting up, when I press to turn them on they come on and work fine, and when I press to turn them off they go off but the blinking sound remains. IT sounds like they are on but, they are not. When I turn the car on it comes on, and when i turn the car off it goes off. They work fine, but the sound will not go away when they are turned off.

Good evening. Your problem is part of a recall by general motors involving the hazard switch. Your hazard switch is also your turn signal and hazard flasher. I would recommend calling your local gm dealer and give them your vin #, they might only ask for the last 8 digits and , if the recall has been performed yet if it has you can buy them from your local parts stores. Hoope this helps.

Where is the flasher unit for 1999 mercury mountaineer?

It's the same flasher unit for both turn signals AND emergency flashers. Even though one side works, the other won't. If you have a good fuse for the turn signals, then replace the flasher unit.

Turn signal

Find your fuse panel. There should be 2 round metal ones that look different from the regular fuses. These are your flashers. Most have 2. One is for your turning signals, the other is for your emergency flashers. If your turning signals are not working, then simply switch them. Now your signals should work fine. Then go to the store at your convenience to pick up a new one to replace the emergency flasher.

Turn Signals quit working

Sounds like the turn signal flasher is going bad. The easy way to find wher the flasher is hidden is turn the turn signal on and find the clicking, that is the flasher. The emergency flashers work fine because they use a different flasher.

Sounds like the flasher unit to me. Normally the emergency flasher and turn signal are separate.

Blinkers stopped working

Your F--150 has 2 flashers, emergency and turn signal. Both are mounted on the fuse block under the dash. The turn signal flasher is mounted on the front of the fuse panel, the emergency flasher is mounted on the rear of the fuse panel. so replace the turn signal flasher should solve the problem. Let me know how it goes.
