My ford explorer will not turn over when hot

Also check the Red battery cable for swelling under the insulator due to battery acid wicking into the cable conductor, if found replace the cable. You can also have a defective starter motor, next time this happens jump the sub solenoid for the starter (near the battery, see picture, apply 12 volts to the small terminal with thread push on lead) and see if it engages, if it does the replace the starter or the starter solenoid.

99 ford explorer new battery and good starter... i installed an aftermarket cd player and my car will not start now

Start by checking all your fuses. also, where did you hook direct power to for the stereo? That could be a problem.

99 Explorer 4.0 Won't start... the last few days that it did run, I would have to turn it over a few times and usually the 3rd time it would start. Just replaced the battery, but guage still reads low....

Check the connections to the starter, 90 percent of the time when testing batteries and starters here in WI the issue it the wires at the starter. Don't just look at them, either. Pull the big one off and clean it really well, and the small one if it looks bad. Also check the ground wire where it bolts to the motor from the battery, if the latter does not fix it. You have a bad connection, the old battery was probably still good-but don't take that as saying to take the new one back, you are better safe than sorry, I would keep the new one anyway-and the old for a spare.

Batrtery or starter?

I would say battery or connections on the battery.

92' Ford Explorer Starter?

Check you positive side cable for corrosion and you might need to replace the cable because it runs from the battery direct to the starter and to the starter relay that is mounted on the right front fender under the hood. You have 2 (two) starter relays on your Explorer.
