I disconnected my battery on my (new to me) 1993 Volvo 240. I do not have the owners manual. My VIN number is YV1AS8805P1439379. What is my code?

The dealer wanted $85.00 just to find the code using the VIN# and I wouldn't want to have to remove the radio to find a serial number to pay for a code etc. There must be an easier way. Is there an internet address where I can feed in my VIN# and retreive a code. I also understand from the dealer that I have to leave the key in and turned for several hours before the radio sends me an o.k. to feed in the code. Is this true and is there a way to bypass this feature? It seem imprudent and could kill the battery again if I left my car with the key in it for several hours.

Radio code is specific for each and every car. It is specific like anti theft code.

You can get it by providing your VIN# and registration details in authorised dealership.
Nobody else can provide you. If anybody can provide you that , then there is no meaning of security for your car..

Bypassing the feature is upto you to decide but we cannot help you in that procedure as it is illegal.

The only way to get it is from dealer. There is no internet site where you can get it..

The radio features antitheft circuitry. If the set is removed from the vehicle or if the battery power is disconnected, a special code must be entered to enable operation of the set.Enter the 4-digit code using the preset buttons. If the correct code is entered, "codE" is no longer displayed and the set is ready to use.If an incorrect code has been entered "EEEE" is displayed for 1 second and then "codE". Enter the correct code. After three unsuccessful coding attempts the set locks for 2 hours . The unit must be connected and turned on during this time.
Enter the code again once this time has elapsed. If you dont have right code then it will not work. The password/code can only be retrieved from service center or from the dealer of the unit. Because at the back of the unit there is a serial number mentioned and the password/code only can be retrieved from the serial number. Each and every device/unit has its own serial number so one serial number code/password will not work with other serial number code password. The service center or the dealer has the list of code for the serial number so as soon as you provide the serial number he will get the password/code
Retrieved for you through the list. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

I disconnected my battery on my new (to me) Volvo. It is actually 17 years old. I have the car so I can get the VIN number easy enough. How do I get my radio back on?

sometimes you can call a volvo dealership with the vin and they can get the code for you. I had to give my vin # and pull my radio out enought to get the #'s offf the top of my radio and give both the vin and the radio #'s to get the code. when you get it, use the digits on the radio to punch the four digits and then push auto. the radio should come on.

You'll need to reprogram your security code. It should be written in your owners manual. If not you'll have to contact your local Volvo dealer and get it with your VIN number.

How do i replace the battery on my 1999 volvo v40

No danger in electrocuting yourself. Just don;t let the wrench come in contact with the batter post and another piece of metal at the same time. The clip is at the lower left of the battery tray and slides left to right and grabs onto the lip of the battery. you'll also need the security code for your radio to reprogram it once your new battery is in. It should be written in your owners manual. If not you'll have to contact your local Volvo dealer with your VIN number. By the way most Auto Parts store will install a battery if you purchase it from them at no additional charge.

Code stereo volvo 1993 850 GLT

If you need the security code, you need to call a Volvo dealer and give them the VIN number, provided it is the same stereo the car came with.  Most dealers will do it for free, if you can't find one, call Boston Volvo Village.
