I disconnected my battery on my new (to me) Volvo. It is actually 17 years old. I have the car so I can get the VIN number easy enough. How do I get my radio back on?

Sometimes you can call a volvo dealership with the vin and they can get the code for you. I had to give my vin # and pull my radio out enought to get the #'s offf the top of my radio and give both the vin and the radio #'s to get the code. when you get it, use the digits on the radio to punch the four digits and then push auto. the radio should come on.

To start with, you don't have enough digits. You need 17.
It may be a 2012 Jeep, but its not likely the trans info will be in the VIN like in years past. I can't tell for sure without having the correct VIN number. In older models the trans code was the 5th digit.

Radio won't turn on after battery died

there is a security system that will call for a code if the battery goes dead or is changed out. call a volvo dealership with the vin # of you car and they may be able to get it with that..they may need the numbers of the radio which means pulling it out enough to read the #'s, and give both numbers to them and they can give you your code

Batery discorneted lost radio code on my volvo v70 no luck from volvo as car 15 years old

The only way to get the radio code is at a dealer, and often you have to have the serial number of the radio, the VIN number of the car, and go to the service department. This is an anti theft preventative, and keeps theives from reselling stolen radios. If you have been to a Volvo dealer and done all I suggested above, then your only option is an aftermarket radio .

How do i replace the battery on my 1999 volvo v40

No danger in electrocuting yourself. Just don;t let the wrench come in contact with the batter post and another piece of metal at the same time. The clip is at the lower left of the battery tray and slides left to right and grabs onto the lip of the battery. you'll also need the security code for your radio to reprogram it once your new battery is in. It should be written in your owners manual. If not you'll have to contact your local Volvo dealer with your VIN number. By the way most Auto Parts store will install a battery if you purchase it from them at no additional charge.

I disconnected the battery on my '96 850 turbo wagon for a few minutes to troubleshoot something. When I reconnected it the radio wouldnot work. I realize I need to enter the code for the stereo but I do...

they should not have to charge you. i dont see why you would. if you have the car manual there might be a chance it is in there. If not, I recommend driving to the dealership [call first to see if you HAVE to go down there and they cant give it to you over the phone] and have license and VIN ready. It should be easy breezy!

Diconnected battery and don't have the code

Volvo codes are usually readily available for free from your Volvo dealer providing you can quote the VIN and Radio Serial Number
