Question about 2006 Mazda 6

1 Answer

2006 Mazda 6 starter issue - clicking like the starter is going out, starts after two or three tries. Replaced starter with used starter and still makes that noise but eventually starts. Any other possible causes? It REALLY sounds like a bad starter but could it be a solenoid?

Hi this sounds like the starter motor solenoid there could be a way to free it and find out for sure if it is u/s, what you have to do is, locate starter onyour vehicle, depending on its location you can try tapping it with a small hammer or a long bar of sorts, at the same time get someone to turn the ignition at the same time while you are tapping the starter, this should free the solenoid and then the startershould work, if it does, turn themotoroff, and try again and see if it works if it does your ok, if not then try theaboveagain, if you have to do itevery timeyou turn the motor off then you will need to replace your starter be sure not to be near any moving parts in case it starts....hope this helps

I have a 2006 Mazda 6. won't start the battery is good and so is starter someone said maybe nuetral safety any thoughts

Need to be more specific to localize the issue. Does the starter motor crank the engine? Is the starter receiving power? Is the solenoid working? Did you check battery contacts to make sure they are free of corrosion? Do you have spark? Is fuel being delivered to motor?

Mazda 6 - Wont start, just clicking noise when key is turned. Battery seems dead, but radio etc came on??

radio don't use as much voltages (AMPS) as the starter motor. remove battery and charge up. remember radio is coded so you will need to put the code in after. negative lead first off the battery.also have ignition turned to number 2 then turn off and you have 30 seconds to remove the battery. if not battery starter motor solenoid has failed and a new motor is needed. check battery first.

2006 Mazda 6 will not start

U must find out why the starter is not cranking to start the engine. Have you checked battery terminals for cleanliness and lack of corrosion? Starter terminal wire good and solid? Solenoid any good? Connections? Relay issue?

Try getting a schematic so you can trace it out and find source of anomaly.

06 Mazda 6, v6 won't start, jmper cables didnt wk, lights do wk

Pretty much got to be starter related. Loose connection at starter. Bad solenoid. Brushes in starter.
Rap the starter with a hammer and see if the engine will turn over after that.
If it does, you've found your problem.

Make sure connection for thick red wire going to starter is good if you had that much corrosion.

2001 mazda Tribute SUV starts intermittenlty

This problem is caused by burnt/worn contacts in the starter solenoid, it is a common issue on all Japanese designed gear reduction starters, they (the contacts) can be replaced, go to they have the parts, about $15, u will need a good set of auto skills to do this repair.

The car was turning over, now the starter motor won't turn over, only the red lights are coming on and making a clicking's a Mazda MX-6 v6 24 valve

the clicking sound is the starter solenoid. if the solenoid is defective, the car would not turn.

the contacts of the solenoids are already worn out.

either replace just the solenoid or the whole starter.

tnx 4 using fixya,
