there is a sensor on the brake pedal that controls the lock on the gear shift if its failed you wont be able to shift from park to reverse ect .
if that doesnt work check you havent lost your gear oil but a would have thought you would hear the gears grinding in this case .hope this helps

WHEN YOU OPEN YOUR HOOD LOOK DOWN THE DRIVER SIDE FENDER THEN LOOK LEFT ABOUT 10 INCHS AND YOU SOULD FIND IT IT WILL BE WHITE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMANT AREA

You can download the operators manual for free at chrysler.com. It has the instructions to program the garage door opener. It's fairly easy with the instructions.

One reason for that I have experienced is when the torque on the parking pawl inside the transmission is particularly great, such as if you put the trans in park on a steep incline. If that is the case, then if you can recruit a husky by-stander or two to push on which ever end of the car is low so as to take the pressure off the pawl it will release. Even on level ground there might be something that is putting torque on the front wheels, so gently rocking the car back and forth might free it up.
The other thing to is the shifter lock has broke and needs to be replaced but there is a over ride for you to unlock it but you need to remove the center console where the shifter is to get to it. SOURCE: 2005 chrysler stuck in park
remove the rubber cover on the right side of the shifter. there is a pink tab press it down with a long screw driver if it still down not come out of park replace the shifter the interlock spring is broken. Hope this helps please rate if it does.
