Well bluntly, you have a leak, it could be thing from a loose fitting to your heater core, if you can find the leak it would really help in attempting to assist you with your problem.

If you have to add add coolent alot you have a rally bad leak

do you knotice a puddle under your car?

if soo if it looks like its comming from the ver front of the car it could be a bad hose/radeater if its close to the moter check and see if ts a hose if its not you may have a cracked block or head (to find out this for shour start the car and put your hand near the exhost pipe and see if your hand gets moist or wet if it does and the exhost smells like coolent you have a cracked head or block or a bad head gasket (it usually is a bad gasket)

i hope this helps

Stop check coolant

Hi you need to lift the bonnet and check the water level in the radiator, and overflow.. If you go to your local service station and ask them to check the water, they will check it for you. If it is low, you may need to add water. tap water is fine, if ina cold area you may need antifreeze, again inquire at your garage.

from the VW manual........"expect to use about 1 litre for every 500 km."the oil level should be checked every week".........some cars have a breather on the side of the block that needs cleaning every year.(looks like a metal canister about 2.1/2" tall by 4"wide with a hose to the inlet manifold/air cleaner).

Check the spark plug for that cylinder, the wire and coil. Also check for any vacuum leaks around that cylinder. See my "How To" on finding a vacuum leak.

Water coming in drivers mat area 2006 vw passat 2.0 tdi

Hi

Common fault with VW's firstly check the door seal at the bottom and make sure it is not wet inside.

Next place is under the bonnet, just under the windscreen below the wipers you will see a long tray the "skuttle panel" leafs and muck build up in here where the drain plugs are once they get blocked the water starts coming in the car from behind the dash board. You should be able to see the problem visibly and it should be easy to clean.

I had this on a golf about 2mths ago, and a polo a while ago and also on a few passats.

Regards

Dan

Alarm on car goes off for no apparnt reason night and day. I have tried closing air vents. I also cannot turn alarm off by locking car with turning key twice as vw handbook says. Is there anyone who can...

Hi, passats of your cars year suffer from water leaking into the car from the heater inlet ducting mounted forward of the windscreen on the N/S. This contaminates a number of multiplug wiring connections mounted inside the car to the left of the passenger side footwell (behind the plastic kickpanel). Remove the panel and inspect each of the multiplugs by pulling them apart. Any connections affected buy water ingress and corrosion should be cleaned with contact cleaner and treated with water repellant spray (WD40 etc). To affect a permanent repair the heater ducting/inlet box will need to be removed and sealed - probably a garage job.
Hope that helps Matt...

Check stik should be on left side of engine. Remove and check. You will need a long spout to add fluid. .
