SOURCE: engine overheating

No water pump issues I am aware off, are you sure you bled the air out of the cooling system? If not fill the overflow bottle all the way full, then use a floor jack and raise the front of the car as high as you can ( this allows air to go to top of radiator tank), then run the engine at high idle speed until the cooling fan ( I assume the fan works OK?) comes on, but avoid letting the engine get into the overheat area of the guage, if it does turn it off, run water over the radiator until it cools, check the tank and radiator, top off if you need to and repeat above procedure, if this doesn't work you have some other problem like no or little flow in radiator.

SOURCE: I have a 93 ford

Hi there,
The temp guage would not have anything to do with the engine light i wouldnt think, take it to a mechanic who has the right diagnostic equipment to extract the codes to tell you what that problem is. As far as the temp guage goes it might be that its riding on the new thermostat as long as its not overheating it should be fine.
I hope this helps.

SOURCE: heater only runs luke warm gauge does not leave minimum

Thermostat might be stuck in the open position or heater core clogged. Replace the thermostat and see where you stand. This would also be a good time to replace any coolant hose that needs replacing and to flush the cooling system and change the coolant. Could also need to change your radiator ca.

Replace the thermostat, if that does not cure the issue you have a slight head gasket leak. I am a retired Ford dealer tech and this is what I have found causes this issue.

try replacing the thermostat, also if the heater in the car is not getting that warm also do a coolant flush. both jobs are not that difficult to do. should take about an hour ( not including bacon sandwich and a brew lol )

Engine overheats and cooling fan cuts off

try to replace the hoses, they may be collapsing, then replace the thermostat, and give it a radiator flush to clear any possible clogs in the lines, last thing i would say is to replace the fan

Car all of a sudden started overheating. Already had timing belt, serpitine belt, spark plugs, water pump and radiator plug replaced 2 months ago -could this be as simple as a thermostat? 135,000 mile 2001...

The thermostat is the most likely problem and also the easiest/cheapest to replace. You could also start by checking the fuse for the electric engine fan, if it is good you could try to disconnect the fan and run 12v ( + and -) to it directly from the battery. It should turn on.

2000 ford escort therostat not working right

Replace the thermostat first. Make sure the antifreeze level is full. Bleed the system. most car's have a bleeder valve located at the thermostat housing outlet.Drain the coolant level only to below the thermostat where it won't leak when removing the housing and thermostat. If it's the heater core it is located under the dash where the 2 heater hoses enter the cab from the engine compartment.

Your coolant system aint heating up like it should. Its your thermostat. You need to change it. its broke. There are four parts to your thermostat. You need to make sure that you get all four parts out. A thermostat costs about five bucks. Its an engine temp. regulator. If its broke your engine wont warm up at all. If it seizes shut, your engine will overheat. Your thermostat is broke. I Have the exact same car that I have been repairing for the last three months.

Serpentine belt replacement

2.0L Engines
See Figures 11, 12 and 13
The accessory drive belt for 2.0L engines has no provision for manual belt adjustment, since these engines use an automatic belt tensioner. Drive belt slack is taken up by the automatic tensioner.
Movement of the automatic tensioner assembly during engine operation is not a sign of a malfunctioning tensioner. This movement is the tensioner self-adjusting and is required to maintain constant belt tension.
The belt tensioner has a belt length indicator. If the indicator marks are not between the MIN and MAX marks, the belt must be replaced.
