Two things Is the oil overfilled? Has the oil been changed recently enough? A fuel injector leak can put alot of gas in the oil. The valve covers may not be draining back to the crank case. The oil cap off just after its been running it shouldn't be full of oil. The oil stick may not be right, and the oil may need to be changed and only put in the right amount(5 quarts with the filter) and then run the car and then check the oil with the stick to see if the stick is right. I'm guessing that the oil smoke is coming out the tailpipe? Ifit's comingout from underthe hood then the motormounts may be broken enough to let the motor hit the belts to the engine bay side or the timing chain (worn out is grinding thoughthe timing chain cover and the oils coming out ( this usally takes alot of miles and many missed oil changes.

I just replaced the head in my 99 neon and i'm blowing white smoke from the exhaust. What's the problem

You are burning coolant, the head gasket can be put on Wrong, If your looking at the engine the right rear corner is the only oil passage for the head, you will see a difference in that corner of the head gasket. If your sure that the gasket is on right you may have a warped or cracked head or improper torqued head, all head bolts MUST be replaced when you do a new gasket cause the bolts stretch when torqued. The spec is 25, 50 then 50 then 1/4 turn for the bolt torque.. Make sure u start from the center of the head.

When i turn on my 1983 buick regal it starts smoking from behind the motor some where and i cannot figure it out. what could it be?

Oil. if the smoke is coming from between the engine block and the firewall then its probably oil on the exhaust manifold. Make sure that your engine is not leaking oil from the seals and make sure the oil cap and dipstick are in place, start your car, with the hood up and observe the smoke if its bad then id take it to a mechanic but if its only mild then providing your engine isn't leaking oil it should burn off within a few minutes of the engine being started, i say watch the smoke because if it is leaking oil onto the exhaust in great amounts then it is possible it could catch fire.

I don't think it has too much oil. I had the oil changed and put to proper levels. I just drove it around the block and the smoke and smell was extreme. I was going to purchase Red Angel A/C seal which...

Gunk makes an oil solvent that stops oil burning. The smoke coming from exhaust would be o-ring issue. If its white smoke its oil, if its blue smoke its gas. Also Gunk makes a stop smoke solvent as well. Both these items are around 5 bucks at autozone and will help the issue. But the burning of the oil is def killing your gas mileage. But try those two gunk solvents and see if that helps.

Leak - upper corner radiator tried Stop Leak now smoking oil from

most likely not. unless your coolant system was nasty dirty gunked up. more likely, that steam coming out of the radiator is also in the upper part of your engine super heating it, expanding stuff too, too much. when it contracts, gaps open up that shouldn't. my guess is a head gasket or intake manifold gasket

Engine smokes on starting then quits smoking on acceleration.

4.3 liter and or any of the V-8's the valve seals , little rubber rings get old and brittle and no longer do the job.
what happens when you shut the engine off the oil from the rocker arms flow down the valve stem and collects then when you go and start the car you get a little shot of motor oil into the combustion chamber, hence a little blue smoke for 20 -30 seconds something most of us live with as its more of a pain to fix than it is to live with.

Engine damage from delayed oil change??

This is not good, but perhaps not fatal. One should always check oil regularly and change at least every 5000 miles. If you're not getting smoke from the exhaust and things are running okay, you're probably okay.

Vortex v6 intake gasket ?

HI you could do a oil pressure test whit a gauge or yest replace your oil pressure sending unite if engine is not making tapping sound when pressure reads low it may be a bad pressure switch.now the coolant problem may be bad intake gaskets look at 4 corners of intake for sign of coolant if you see it outside its probably getting inside your lifter valley.Hope this helpsb58809b.gif
