Question about 1992 Cadillac DeVille

1 Answer

I have a 1992 Cadillac Deville. The heat, and the air both turn on because I can hear it turning on. However, the blower doesn't come on. I pulled the blower out, and tested it with a 12 volt battery, and it came on. I have heard about some kind of resister, but not sure what to do. I have also checked all fuses, and not one is blown. Please help! It is very hot, and I want the ac to blow.. Thank you

Trace the wire from the blower back, it will meet at a harness connector, that is the resistor, you can check continuity on the leads, from there you trace back to the switch

92 cadillac deville no heat or air blowing at all

Devilles use a controller instead of a basic blower resistor.
Someone would need to check the blower motor for power and ground, then check the controller mounted in the HVAC box on the firewall.
You may need a shop manual to get the wiring diagrams needed to troubleshoot the system.

1992 Cadillac Deville blowing air but not heating?

There is a damper (basically a door) in the heater unit that is probably not being actuated. This damper allows the air from the blower to be sent over the hot heater core and thus warming the car interior. This damper might be either vacuum controlled or electrically controlled. My 1992 Blazer had vacuum lines that went to it. It could be that you have the vacuum lines loose under the dash. Look for loose hoses or connectors and see if you see an obvious place they might plug into.

No heat , blower good, cool air

Hello: Check the temperature Actuator, to do this remove the glove box then turn the key on and go from 60 to 90 and watch the rod going from the actuator to the arm on top of the HVAC case. The actuator mounts on top of the programmer.

'96 cadillac deville has no air.cond./heat

Unfortunately for you ( i had the same problem) The A/C compressor HAS to be in working order on these cars or else all heck breaks out with the climate control.

If it's a nice car, get a new compressor installed. If it's borderline- get rid of the car.

I paid 2200 to Cadillac to fix the A/C and climate control only to have the transmission fail in my '93.

I dumped the car soon thereafter....

AC shuts down

Sounds like a FAN BLOWER problem. Under R/R hood. A/C compressor will continue to click on and off even if blower is inop. Hope this helps

1999 cadillac deville air wont work

There's a blower motor (fan) under the hood and up against the firewall near the center of the car that takes some work to remove. It has gone out in the last 2 of my 4 Cadillacs. Turns out if you're not real careful with the positioning of the spark plug wires they will brush up against it, and if one of them gets cracked or brittle it will "arc" and short out the blower motor. The a/c compressor should still come on (you'll hear a click when it engages) but you won't get any air blowing into the cabin, hot or cold.

The part was like $200 stock (year 2000 prices) and it took about an hour to remove it. My Caddy at that time had this damn strut bar going across the engine bay which we eventually removed to get to the blower motor.

Ihave a 1992 caddy deville Ican hear the blower motor blowing .

I may have had a similar problem, for a long time my blower motor made a loud howling/roaring noise, hard to explain, but I only heard the noise when the blower was turned on. It continued to blow air for a couple years then just quit, the noise it made continued for another 6 months to a year without air-flow. Finally it quit blowing air at all. I eventually replaced the blower motor and no more noise and air flow was restored. Hopefully you already have fixed this because removing and replacing the blower motor wasn't fun.
