CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL COULD BE TOO LOW.IF FLUID LEVEL OKAY BUT TRANSMISSION FLUID LOOK DARK BROWN SMELL BURNT REPLACE FLUID AND FILTER.IF FLUID BEEN CHANGED.ADJUST THROTTLE KICK DOWN LINKAGE.IF THAT DONT HELP.SHIFT PROBLEM IS STICKING SHIFT VALVES IN THE VALVE BODY.YOU CAN GO TO AUTO PARTS STORE BUY A BOTTLE ADDITIVE YOU ADD TO TRANSMISSION FLUID IT WILL FREE THE STUCK SHIFT VALVES .AND RECONDITION TRANSMISSION SEALS HELPING IT TO SHIFT BETTER.

there is a reverse solenoid separate to the others. you may get a serious problem by the use of diesel as that fuel is still in the converter and will affect the transmission oil especially when the oil is hot.run the fault codes to find what is wrong.

this is very common with ford transmissions. it has gone bad if the fluid was low and not a bright red color then its defenantly bad. advice for ford vehicles if the fluid is bad do not change it this will also cause the same problem leave it alone and drive it till it takes a dump but i do believe your tranny is gone
