Check ground wire and positive wire. Double check that the connections are clean. Have the altenator tested, because this is a sign of a bad voltage regulator.

What causes amp light to come on got new battery and altanater is good any suggestions

Battery light is turned on by the regulator in the alternator, indicating a regulator problem - alternator (more correctly, the generator) needs replacing.

99 Blazer V6 4x4 Intermittent start problem New battery Alternator? good Start a few times then won't, no sounds/lights Voltage read low Charge battery and it's good for a few days Any suggestions

When the vehicle is running check voltage at the battery . should be 13.1 to 14.1 volts , if not the alternator isn't charging . Doesn't matter if the alternator is new , has to have B+ voltage on the heavier wire connected to back of the alternator . The other wire connected to the alternator comes from the PCM/ECM . Is the Battery symbol light on when vehicle is running ?
The powertrain control module (PCM) or vehicle control module (VCM) turns the generator ON or OFF, by applying voltage to the generator control/monitoring circuit 225 (RED). The regulator in the generator also requests the charge indicator located in the instrument panel cluster (IPC), using the same circuit. When the regulator monitors that either a voltage high or voltage low condition exists with the engine running, a ground path to the PCM/VCM will be provided through the generator control/monitoring circuit 225. The PCM/VCM then sends a serial data message to the IPC requesting the charge indicator to be turned ON. The IPC monitors serial data messages from the PCM/VCM, and turns the charge indicator ON when requested. It mite be best if you take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop , unless you like making parts stores rich , buying unneeded parts .

New battery keeps going dead no low voltage light

Have the vehicle taken to one of many places that will test the Alternator output etc--narrow it down first without replacing that.

Voltage may drop enough to prevent starting without triggering the low voltage issue.

Hi, U didn't tell us anything about the model of ur car? If the light kept lighting up and charging to battery is normal, the connection wire will be at fault! Try, to go to ur service center ask about it and they will give u advice for free!
Hope that helps u out!

Does a 1996 jeep have a generator and an alternator? The light came on as GEN.

usually the generator and alternator are in the same device, older vehicles may have the alternator circuit seperately installed somwhere else.

The Gen lamp indicates that the battery is no longer getting a charge. or there will be a red battery sign lamp.

at this time of year on older vehicles it maybe that your battery needs replacement.
it is better to get a garage to check your battery status, as you dont want to find out that you need a new battery after buying an new alternator then you end up buying both.

I hope this was useful.

Electrical power system service required.....ABS warning light, generator warning light, brake failure...car stalled and wont't restart

usually caused by failed generator. Fix the generator and other lights will also extinguish. The car should jump start, but will not stay running without a charged battery. Recommend removing the generator and take to parts store for testing. Would you like instructions for removing generator?

Alternator problem?

check battery voltage with engine off. should be @ 12.5v
check with engine running at about 1500 rpms. It should be @ 14 volts. If yes, it is ok. I think you are ok.
Please rate higly if htis helps

your system is more sophisticated than Sars can handle.

here's how it works.

The charging system consists of a generator which generates current to supply the vehicle electrical system and maintain the battery in a charged condition.
The generator is driven by the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section 303-05 . When the engine is started, the generator begins to generate alternating current (AC) which is converted to direct current (DC) internally. The DC current is controlled by the voltage regulator (located on the back of the generator), and then supplied to the battery.
The charging system voltage is controlled by the powertrain control module (PCM). The generator charges the battery and at the same time it supplies all the electrical loads that are required. The battery is more effectively charged with a higher voltage when the battery is cold and a lower voltage when the battery is warm. The PCM is able to adjust the charging voltage according to battery temperature by using a signal from the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor. This means that the voltage setpoint is calculated by the PCM and communicated to the regulator by a communication link.
The PCM simultaneously controls and monitors the output of the generator. When the current consumption is high or the battery is discharged the system is able to increase the idle speed.
To minimize the engine drag when starting the engine, the PCM controls the generator. The generator does not produce any output until the engine has started. The PCM then progressively increases the output of the generator.
The PCM controls the operation of the charging system warning indicator in the instrument cluster. The PCM is therefore responsible for turning the warning indicator off after the engine is started and illuminating it under fault conditions (when the generator is not generating the correct amount of current with the engine running). The warning indicator will also be illuminated by the PCM at key - on engine off and stall conditions.

Service Engine soon light flashing or constant

code 1637 is a generator l circuit code code 300 is a multiple misfire code. from what you are describing i would lean towards wiring problem with alternator circuit.

The L-terminal circuit from the generator is a discrete circuit into the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) . The PCM supplies the ignition voltage to the generator lamp feed. This ignition voltage is pulled low by the generator once the ignition switch supplies ignition 1 voltage . The voltage stays low until the generator turns. When the generator is up and running, the PCM detects ignition voltage. Therefore, with no failures with the vehicles charging system, the lamp terminal circuit will go low 0 volts when the ignition switch is powered up and then goes to the ignition voltage after the engine is started.

I find it hard to believe you need a third alternator. if you do something is going on to burn them up. have them check wires might have a harness rubbed thru grounding out at times
