Its not too hard actually, first u have to take out the left pocket by the steering wheel, pull out, then press buttons on the side and youll see the fuses behind there, then theres 3 bolts for the bottom piece u need to get to, 2 are covered by little plastic plugs on both sides of the steering wheel(pretty noticeable about 1 inch by 1 inch) remove those bolts, then theres one more under sort of by the pedals you should see it it looks like the other two but without a plug, take that off, there should be screws on the left and right under the plastic for the top part of the dash, once u get that unscrewed make sure to unhook the dim light switch and it should pull up easy enough, then youll see screws for the instrument panel, take those off and carefuly pull the instrument panel out i think its top out first, then simply twist the bulb out thats burn and replace and screw it back together, it seems like alot but its not too bad, if u have any questions email me at knukkles122292@yahoo.com and i can guide u through it by looking at my car which is the same exact one haha

Replace check engine light bulb

You will have to remove the instrument panel, but not the whole dash. See here, p111. Note you only have to do steps 9, 10, 14 to 16, 19 to 23. When you take out the instrument panel, you will see the light in its socket on the back. It is a wedge type globe, quite easily available.

How do I disconnect the check engine light on a 2000 Toyota camry V6?

The only way you can disconnect that, is by removing the dash panel, an then remove the bulb from behind it, so it wont light up. each component that lights up on your cluster panel has its own bulb.

Resetting the check engine light

On my 2006 you set the odometer to the normal odometer mode using the button on the dash. When you get that setting, hold the button down until the display flashes. Once it begins to flash, let go of the button and then push it again. The light should then go out.

2001 corolla insturment panel lights

I had the same problem in my 2001 Corolla. Removing the cluster was not a problem. Remove the two screws securing the 'bezel' around the cluster. You may need to use a small screwdriver then to gently pry the bezel out from the top and remove. Then remove three screws securing the instrument cluster and pull it out. Because newer cars have all electronic guages, there is no speedometer cable to make it difficult. Just pull it out, turn it over and twist the green bulb holders to get to the bulbs.
