It is right behind the air filter in-line on the round intake tube. It is black round and has four or five wires on flat plug on top. The plug is about the size of a match book.

MAF sensor is located between air filter and trottle body. During warm up take a screwdriver and lightly hit the MAF sensor if engine stall. then you have MAF sensor defect.
other thing is crankshaft sensor behing the harmonic balancer could touch metal when engine is hot enough have a look then good luck

If the M.A.F. sensor is disconnected it can't help the driveability of the vehicle in question. Do you get a service engine soon light with a code to this effect? I would change it and hook it up and see what happens.

I have a 1988 Nissan Pathfinder that starts up just fine but it sputters when you press the gas to get it moving. Once you get it moving it runs just fine. Anyone that can tell me how to fix this problem I...

Sounds like the MAF sensor is acting up. Try spraying MAF sensor cleaner in it as per the directions and see if it helps. Another thing you can do is tap on the top of the MAF sensor and see if there's any change with the engine. If the engine changes the way it runs as you tap on it, replace it. Check the condition of the air filter and get some throttle body cleaner and clean the throttle body out. You'll probably find alot of carbon come out of the throttle body.

Where is the MAF sensor located on a 1988 Chevy GMC truck

are you sure this vehicle isnt carbureted? carbureted engines dont have maf sensors. if it has a maf sensor, it will be in the intake ducting somewhere between the throttle body and the air filter.

I have a Diahatsu, 1992 and it needs a MAP sensor, how do I find out how many bars the MAP sensor should be and how do I know if it is a turbo or super charged engine? It is an EFI, 3 cylinder.

Maf - map( manifold absolute pressure sensor or MAF (Mas Air flow sensor?

Turbocharger looks like a snail
A supercharger llooks like a big tube with ribs that has been flattened a little,
As far as Bars, The specs are usually on the part you will be removing.

Engine seems to be flooding with fuel

your engine doesn't have a MAP (Manifold absolute pressure) sensor it has a MAF (Mass Airflow) sensor, that is located in the air intake hose to the throttle body of the intake.

What is the meaning of troubleshoot codes 34 and 45 for a 1988 buick regal, 2.8 motor. how can I fix them.

Code 34 is MAF sensor out of range. Code 45 is O2 sensor lean. Check the voltage at the wires to the MAF sensor first, then check the vacuum to the sensor. Your MAF sensor has probably gone out, causing the O2 sensor to fault.
Hope this helps, you will need a digital volt meter and a vacuum gauge to test. I have seen the wires break down in the insulation to cause fault.

1988 Dodge Aries K 2.5L Engine Trouble and codes

Trouble Code 14 indicates that the Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) is reporting abnormally high readings. CTS is used to control fuel mixture, timing, idle speed, TCC and EGR operations among others. The thermistor used has a low resistance when hot, rising as the coolant cools. This error then, indicates a very low resistance in the CTS circuit.
Trouble Code 15 indicates that the Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) is reporting abnormally low readings. CTS is used to control fuel mixture, timing, idle speed, TCC and EGR operation, among others. The thermistor used has a high resistance when cold, lowering as the coolant warms. This error then, indicates a very high resistance in the CTS circuit.
Trouble Code 33 indicates that the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is reporting more air is entering the engine than makes sense based on RPM and TPS. The MAF sensor produces a frequency output; around 30 Hz at idle to 150 Hz under acceleration. The frequency varies proportionally to airflow. The ECM monitors the frequency and thus determines airflow into the engine. Typical idle MAF is 5 to 7 grams per second.
