I changed the evaporator core and recharged the system but the A/C is still blowing hot air.

I changed the core because AAMCO charged it with dyed freon and told me that was the problem. I don't know much about cars, so I'm unsure of what the pressure is or where I can find it. I was trying to see if there was any thing they or I may have overlooked.

it was an 1100 dollar job and I know they want to continue charging me for services despite it not being fixed.

The first thing is to make sure the compressor is turning on, also check to make sure the blend door is moving you may have a bad blend door motor, also how are your preasures? low side and high side this well tell you if the compressor is good or if there a block ,make sure you connected everything back just double check the connection.

It is rarely the evaporator because that is safely under your dash.
It is almost always the condenser because it is hit by debris in the front of the car, or the pump because the shaft has to spin through a seal and still hold back the freon.

You can see of the compressor is going on and off properly because while the outer ring of the pulley must always spin, the inner disk only spins when there is power to the compressor clutch.

The heater won't turn off even when I turn the air condition on

The heater core valve is not being closed and the hot coolant continues to go into the core. Since the AC evaporator share the same enclosure you are not getting the benefit of cool air. The control that is responsible for changing heat temps is the culprit.

2009 galant, added coolant.. still blowing hot air

Hi, there are several reasons your vehicle may be blowing hot air through the vents, such as a need to recharge refrigerant. There could also be a problem with the air conditioner's compressor. Vents will blow hot air if the compressor does not activate when the A/C is turned on. There may be an obstruction in the system, or the blend air door inside the HVAC unit may be stuck in the HEAT position so no air goes through the A/C evaporator.

Hi, the reason for this is the location of the evaporator core, its on the passenger side, a low charge will cause the side nearest to core it to cool more. Your cycling of compressor concures with this scenario. Recharge system to specifications.

Heater blows cold air

Heater core could be blocked up, or the blend door is stuck on the cold side of the a/c evaporator or the blend door is stuck in the cold position.

Air vents may be blocked or your system needs to be recharged with refrigerant.

OK, most cars have heater cores that get hot but the blender door directs air away from this core in the a/c mode when you want cool air from the evaporator.

I'm not sure if there is a control valve which stops the water from going through the heater valve.

I think the part is called a 'heater blend door actuator' that you are after.

ok, missed the part about the rear ac working, the part that causes this is called the air temperature control blend door actuator motor, it is an electric motor driven gear drive that moves the plastic door inside the air ducking to mix or shut off the hot or cold air from the ac evaporator core or the heater core, you will need to replace it.
