The first thing to do is scan the computer for codes, these codes will assit in find the problem, also have you checked the coil , you may have a bad coil, by scaning you will be able to see which cylinders are misfiring and then you can switch coils and if the misfire moves then you have a bad coil or two, this is what it sounds like to me that you have a couple of bad coils but scan the computer first and see what codes you get, autozone scans for free and some other autopart store also. hope this helps.

My Ford Escort GL 1.6 Jerks whenever i reach 80km/h, the stench of petrol is also high during this time.

When it's in neutral and you hit the gas, does the rpm rise slowly? And if you try to give it too much throttle does it choke and try to die? It sounds like your catalytic converter is partially plugged, or there is some other exhaust restriction. If the check engine light is on, there may be relevant diagnostic codes available, some of the auto parts chains used to read the codes for you for free, but I'm not certain that is still the case.

Old Spark Plugs --change every 3 years
Front Oxygen Sensors-change at 100,000
Use full synthetic fluids in that kind of temp
Better be changing your trans every year or two
or that won't last in 80 degree weather

Service engine light comes on when i first start after it warm up and icut it off light goes off but it is burning alot of gas

Try replacing the oxygen sensor on the top end of the exhaust.Or it can also be the maf air flow gauge,it needs cleaning.A loose ground wire or loose sensor wire can also be a problem.

My 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 skips, jerks, and the tackometer jumps up and down only sometimes. The times are random.

Check for a vacuum leak around the intake manifold. You can use carb cleaner to find the leak the engine rpm will change when it sucks in the carb cleaner. Most likely its the intake manifold gasket but make sure to check all vacuum hoses.

How do you change oxygen sensors on a 2000 hyundai sonata

Locate the two oxygen sensors on either side of the Sonata's catalytic converter on the exhaust manifold. The Sonata's oxygen sensor is gold and shaped liked a spark plug.

  • 2 Remove the Sonata's wiring harness from the end of the two oxygen sensors using your fingers. Do not damage the end of Sonata's wiring harness.
  • 3 Remove the two oxygen sensors from the Sonata's manifold using the oxygen sensor wrench.
  • 4 Apply the anti-seize compound to the threads of the Sonata's two new oxygen sensors.
  • 5 Install the two new oxygen sensors to the Sonata's manifold using the oxygen sensor wrench. Re-attach the wiring harness to the two new oxygen sensors using your fingers.

Try replacing Oxygen sensor (top of exhaust pipe just rear of engine; 22mm ring-spanner job after cutting wires); though normally comes up with Code 1 on the MIL, this is the right bunch of symptoms.
