Had the same thing happen last year coming home from Canada. The resistor is a card about the size of a credit card and black. I had to get in the front passenger seat upside down to change it but its pretty easy and was under $20. Good luck.

This is the Blower Motor Resistor located adjacent to the Blower Motor. It is easily accessed on the Passenger Side behind/under the Dash Kick Panel.
You may want to look up the Part at an Auto Parts Store (Autozone or Advance Auto) to become familiar with what the Part looks like. It is also easily removed and replaced.

Let me know if this helped and thanks for using FixYa.com!

Where is the heater resistor on a 2005 dodge dakota? Behind glove box?

should be just above the blower motor. You will need to remove the glove box door to gain access.

The heater fan only works on two middle spots not on high or loww 2002 quadcab dakota

most likely it is the blower motor resistor. possibly its the switch but 9 time out of 10 its the resistor.

Fan on heat and/or a/c won't work unless on high

Your fan speed dropping resistor is burnt out, it is located near the blower motor.

Heater fan only works on the two low settings.

if you have checked the switch as recommended, it is most likely to be the heater resistor which contols the diffrerent speeds. it is
normally fited near to the motor and is a squarish block with multiplug on it and coils like springs in the centre of it, look at the coils they may be burnt out.hope this helps

The heater/defroster/ac switch

Sounds like a card located under dash behind your blower motor, on passenger side. When card starts going bad you will only have off and high (for awhile), then none. change the card, this thing controls your speeds on the motor at your control on dash. I have a 2002 Dakota had same problem... but keep in mind not all Dakotas have this card.
