Question about 2005 Lincoln LS

1 Answer

I have 05 LS..AC has full freon and compressor is fine..but when I turn AC on only hot air is blowing from vents..have a duel digital control in dash..this just started recently..could it be vent control servo's? Also have a jerking from engine on slight inclines..like a miss in the engine..sometimes the check engine lite will come on for awhile and then go out..had a scan tool put on it and showed missfire cyl.#6 (this is a 6 cyl)..Ford replaced my throttle body for $800 but this didn't help..problem originally started on on-ramp accelleration when car would go into "limp" mode and "tool" lite came on...pull to side of road.cut ignition off and restart..car ran fine.

OK, when the AC is on and only hot air blows from the vents and the compressor is fine and you're fully charged with freon:

The vacuum motor controlled blend door is probably not angling correctly inside the dash board. This can be caused by a loose or disonnected vacuum line.

The missing of the engine showing a misfire on Cylinder #6 tells me that it could be a coil pack problem.

The following shows information about the blend door problem:
Air Inlet Door To Remove:

  1. Remove the right floor duct.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the air inlet mode door actuator.
  3. Remove the air inlet mode door actuator linkage retaining clip.
  4. Remove the air inlet mode door actuator screws.
  5. Remove the air inlet mode door actuator.

0linc ls v8 added freon compressor came on but no cool air doing good the day before now blowing hot air out all vent's

If the AC was working good the day before, why on earth did you add freon? Did you use a real manifold set or just the plastic "add a can" parts store stuff?

Air conditioner blows hot but freon is full

Your compressor could be faulty. Check to see if it engages when you press the AC button with the car running.

AC has a New AC Compressor, plenty of Freon -it works but, only Hot Air blows through the vents ??? Is this the vaccum hose or the Heater Control Valve?

Check the heater control valve. And verify if there's hot air w/o A/C (fresh air with heat setting to cold)

1997 lasabra custom all ac componets are new hoses compresser etc. was blowing ice cold air now went to turn on ac it just started blowing air lukewarm checked compresser thats cutting on fine,checked...

Sounds like a vent control not working. If the A/C was low on freon the compressor clutch will not turn on. and it would even cycle, youll need to be in the car start it up with running turn on A/C, you hear the comressor come on and youll hear the clutch listen for it, it should stay on for 45 seconds then cycle off. is it doing that? Now if its too fast then we have a low freon. okay lets move out of this are and check control temperature vent. does the knob turn with resistance it should if it doesnt then we know the control is non operational.and that will have to be fixed, okay it the knob works this will be the trickey on underneath the glove box is a vacuum control they have to be plugged together for mixture and vent control to work if it is disxconneted or loose youll have no temperature control.remeber if you visually inspect the A/C line on the top left hand area you should see condensation of the filter drier it top left that silver can.you should see condensation on it. if not just because its full and because it turns on there is the expansion valve that need to be tested the expansion valve may have failed , only a A/C gauge can trouble shoot it, and yes the compressor will cycle but wont get cold

A/C is blowing hot air. Freon is full, compressor

Not sure how you know if the freon is full without the unit running. There are a number of switches which can keep your A/C from coming on. There is a low pressure switch which is usually located on the larger line and sometimes located on a silver cannister (called an accumulator) which is the low side of a compressor circuit. There is also a high pressure cutout which is usually located on the back of the compressor unit. Both of these switches can be jumpered out to see if they are the reason for the compressor not working. You remove the two wire connector to either switch and place a small jumper wire between the two wires on the connector block. The other reason my be a low idle cutout switch and this will also usually be located near on on the compressor. You can also test it the same way as the other switches. If it is the low pressure switch then of course you will need to add freon which you can purchase from any auto parts store. They usually come with instructions and all the equipment needed to add in freon. If it is high pressure, then some of the freon should be recovered from the system by a technician. If is the low idle cutout then you will have to take it to a mechanic to understand why it is idling so low. Hope this helps.

Today the A/C stopped blowing cold air yesterday it was fine, Nothing but hot air was coming our of vents

Look for leaks around the A/C hoses and compressor. You may just be low on Freon. When the pressure in your lines (amount of gas in your ac lines) is low, the ac will just cutout hence blowing hot air. try adding some freon.

Ac compressor does not turn on when car has been sitting & it's hot outside. Works fine in the morning.

either the freon charge is about 1/3 low, or the expansion valve needs to be replaced. Freon is getting into the evaporator, but not in great enough volume to cool the air unless it is coming in cool to start with. check your ac charge, and if it is full, then have it emptied, change out the expansion valve, and recharge it
