I have a 2002 Dodge Intrepid with bad 2.7 engine which I want to replace with a 3.5, I was told engine would have to be a 02 or newer. There is a engine code G and engine code V for 3.5 in 2002's.
I am told difference is intake and exhaust manafolds, which engine code do I need??
I put a 3.5 from 2000 Chrysler veh into a 1999 Intrepid and also in a 2000 Intrepid. Bolt in deal, did not change computer and both veh runs fine.

Engine code? I'm assuming that you are refering to the VIN code, if this its right, keep in mind that the 2.7 vs 3.5 have few VINs...

Dodge Intrepid 2.7 liter...
2.7 liter DOHC V-6 VIN "R"
2.7 liter DOHC V-6 VIN "U"
2.7 liter DOHC V-6 VIN "V"

2002 Dodge Intrepid R/T 3.5 liter...
3.5 liter SOHC V-6 VIN "G"

Hope helps.

Any 3.5 engine can be used, but there are a few things you have to do...

Going from a 2.7 to 3.5 is not a direct have to change the computer(ECM), the entire wiring harness, and possibly the transmission and axle shafts. You will also need the heavier springs for the front end.

I can't remember what a PO605 code is off-hand, but I do know that it is a PCM code, and not a BCM code. There are 2 different computers.

2001 dodge intrepid with p0201 code does the injector need replaced

Codes don't tell you what is wrong or have anything
to do with replacing parts

Codes are used to diagnose the system with the fault &
then component test

1996 3.3l intrepid o2 locations

There two catalytic converters and two O2 sensors. Code PO154 Bank 2 sensor 1 which is the driver side sensor staying in the middle range, it might need replacing. Normally the O2 would go active or lazy but staying in the middle is new for me.

Shift solenoid needs replacement according to chek engine computer check not shifting out of first gear

There are no computers used to diagnose a vehicle

If your referring to a scan tool & codes, the codes
do not tell you to replace something

They only indicate a possible malfunction
in a system

You then have to component test to find
out if something needs replacing

A trans shop or a really good local repair shop
is what you need

Any type of issue you believe is trans related,
calls for an immediate halt to using the vehicle,
unless you got 2 or 3 grand to part with

I need to know how to pull the codes on my 99 Intrepid..I lost the manual that had the instructions.

After 1996, a scanner is required to get check engine light codes. Hooked up to your OBD-2 data connector.

Note: The Intrepid 3.5L engine takes the Delco starter, while the Intrepid 3.3L engine takes the
Nippondenso starter.
How can you tell which engine's in your Intrepid? read 8th digit of the VIN code.
VIN code "F" - 3.5L 6cyl MFI (multi-port fuel injection) - 60% of 1997 Dodge Intrepids sold
VIN code "T" - 3.3L 6cyl MFI - 40% of 1997 Dodge Intrepids sold

Code says there is a problem with the camshaft sensor. Occassionaly the check engine light comes on and the car stops running or runs very rough

I also have a 04 intrepid with the 3.5L engine. mine did the same thing. I replaced my cam position sensor. Bought it at autozone for $30 and replaced it myself. It's located in your timing cover in front of the engine under your upper intake. Never had another problem after replacing it.

I hope this helps

What is codes P016 Po441 P0135 2002 intrepid

016 is crankshaft position sensor. This needs to be diagnosed properly. Alot of times this part is replaced when an underlying condition is really the cause.
441 is an evaporative emmisions leak or a faulty purge or vent solenoid This vehicle also may have an vapor management valve so diagnosing is best so you dont replace the wrong parts when maybe the whole problem was a bad fuel cap or a vacuum leak somewhere.
And the 0135 is the 02 sensor heater circuit. This usually points to a faulty sensor and if so both upstream sensors will need replacing soon.
Now with all those codes I wonder if they happen all at once. There should be no way thier related but if they all happen at once I would start by removing the battery terminals and cleaning. And any grounds on the engine or body under the hood, clean them also. Most likely this isnt your issue but its the one thing you can do for free that might help. Then get the codes cleared. Disconnecting the battery may erase the codes.. If the codes come back you will need to get them addressed.
