Check your battery terminals. Look for corrosion or wear. I would replace them next. Hope this helps.

Sometimes there is a fusible link in the hot lead to the battery. Check shop manual to see if there is one. Otherwise, look for bulge somewhere close to the hot battery connector. Look for fusible links elsewhere if you cant find one near battery.

Have a 1985 chevy c30 silverado put a new alternator and new battery on it and my charging guage dont go up like it should

Most likely issue is a large draw on the accessory wire. Try pulling accessory fuses to see if one of them results in higher voltage on the gauge. If you find one, troubleshoot that accessory for a draw.

Battery will not charge

Ours does this. Normally the battery has given up on life. When like ours your landy has had its battery run down (Kids leave music on etc etc) it decreases the life of a battery. They do say that after 3 or more incidents of battery being let run flat, it is beyond repair. For info, our disco is 1998 and was about 2008 when the alternator packed in. Seems to be the age they suffer. Also, could easily be your alternator. They come hand in hand really and when the alternator is on its way out, it takes more juice to fire the engine up, thus drain on the battery. At the same time it aint charging the battery as it's running coz the alternator meant to do that.

My battery light came on and my battery dies like i aint getting a charge and when i charge the battery it starts everytime alternater is good what could it be

How do you know alternator is good?
Put in a cheap volt gauge.
Should read 12.5 normal.
Down to 10 starting.
Back to 12.5 at idle.
Up to 13.5 when engine revved up.

But battery low on water will not hold charge.
Could also have internal short.
Volt gauge will show.

Could also have something staying on, like engine or trunk compartment light?
Pull one battery terminal, and see if test light lights up across gap. If it does, even weak, you have a constant drain. Could be alternator. When diodes go bad, alternator can drain battery. Disconnect things until light goes out.

Battery not charging, alternator seem to putting

11.50 volts won't be enough potential to overcome the batteries 12 volt standing charge.

Either your alternator is shot...which you can check by going to an Autozone and having a free system check. Or your battery is already going bad and not sending enough voltage to the alternator to make the 13.8-15.8 volts it should be making.

If the alternator is the culprit a good mechanic will swap it out for a fairly low price and save you a lot of headaches.

Good luck and be careful.

Battery has been replaced light does not go off

You may need to have the error code reset by the dealer. Once the cars computer senses an issue it will lock it in untill repaired and reset. The only other possible problem is you alternator. If you alternator is going bad it is not sending enough power to recharge your battery properly. A new alternator can be replaced for under $200.00. Lets hope it is just an error code that needs resetting. Take care and please leave me positive feedback. It means a lot to me. If you have more questions do not hesitate to send them to me. I will do anything I can to get you taken care of. Have a good day.

Battery aint holding a charge just bought new alternator for my 1992 ford explorer 4x4 plus a new battery i bought

take the negative battery cable of and put a test light in line from the cable to the battery post with the ign in the off position. light should not come on. if it does you have parasitic draw of power from somewhere pre-ignition. check you alternator and starter wires to be sure they are connected properly.
