I recommend using a 10w or 20w 40 synthetic oil. Reason is without getting too technical, synthetics are more chemically stable under the harshest conditions and stay that way throughout their service life far longer than any organic lubricant. Check out noac volatility tests for tech info. I've been using syn for years and routinely get way over 300k from all my engines.

What is the correct oil pressure for 2000 grand jeep cherokee larado its about 75 now. i want to buy this car but worried about the oil pressure.

Normal oil pressure should be between 40 and 60 psi. A cold engine will normally have higher pressure. If you're seeing 75 psi on a warm engine I would recommend having the pressure checked with a manual gauge to verify the gauge in the Jeep is working correctly. If the gauge is correct oil viscosity may be too high (oil too thick) or there may be a problem with the oil pump pressure relief valve. If the gauge is not correct the sending unit may be at fault.

What does it mean when the check gage light come on and the oil pressure hand goes to the zero mark? I have a 2000 jeep grande cherokee limited with 124,000 miles.

Either the oil level is very low or the engine bearings have failed (assuming the gauge is accurate) if the engine isn't making noise and the level is full have a mechanical gauge installed to check actual pressure. if good, the sending unit or gauge is faulty.
If in doubt, do not drive or run the engine 'tll the problem has been diagnosed.

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the oil gauge is going from 0-50 psi. There is oil in the engine. Should I be looking at the gauge or the pump for the problem.

the 1st thing to do is hook up a mechanical test gage and see what the pressure really is, the one used in the truck is electronic and u could have a sending unit problem, if the mechanical test gage show the same readings u will need a new oil pump, this assumes the engine doesn't have any bearing knock type noises

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited oil pressure gauge is dropping to 0 when idling in gear. What is wrong and what do I have to do to ix it?

First check the oil level and top up as necessary. If the oil pressure is at 0 , then it would very quickly sieze the engine, that not being the case, it sounds like you need to replace the oil pressure switch/sensor, which will be mounted either on the engine block or on the oil filter housing. Hope this helps

2000 Jeep grand cherokee 4.0 engine

HI.WELL I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START. FRIST IF IT WAS THE FLYWHEEL IT WOULD DO IT WHEN THERE IS NO STRAIN ON THE MOTOR WHEN DRIVING. THE SAME IF YOU HAD A BAD BEARING. IF I COULD JUST HEAR IT RUNNING, IT COULD BE A BAD OIL PUMP THAT COULD CAUSE IT TO RADDLE UNTIL YOUGET THE OIL BUILT UP ENOUGH TO STOP IT. HOPE THIS HELPS. JIMBO

Where is the location of the oil pressure sending unit on a 2000 jeep grand cherokee 4x4

Someone comments say...

- On my 95 4.0 it's right beside the distributor.
- The sensor is on the passenger side of the engine, back near the firewall.

Good luck!!

What to do if antifrezee or water are runing in to the oil of jeep grand cherokee ,,????

If you accidentally poured antifreeze into the motor then change oil and filter immediately. If you discovered antifreeze in the oil then you have a serious internal engine problem that will require immediate diagnosis at a qualified shop or service center. Don't drive the Cherokee at all. Have it towed.

Oil pressure gage at 50

if pressure is higher than what it normally is after an oil change, you may have used the wrong grade of oil (too thick). Foam could be from overfilling, or from water in the oil (maybe antifreeze getting into the oil?).
