2003 Pontiac Grand Am is shaking badly, TRAC OFF light is on, and CHECK ENGINE light is on. What does this mean?!?

The speed sensor wiring may be bad . The ECM/PCM can go bad and a used one can be found though some need reprogramming.

I think you need a new motor. does it feel like your in a truck? then Im thinking your crankshaft in your motor has finally moved on to a better place, to check, take out your engine oil dipstick, and check the end of it, if you see metal fillaments and the oil is very dirty, your going to need a new motor.

it means that you're traction control is disabled. You are now able to spin tires/burn out. If you do not want to do that, locate the button to turn it back on... usually it just says TRAC on the button, usuallly located towards the bottom of the dash.

It means a wheel sensor is bad. Or the tires are at different PSI's..
Or someone has push the button to disengage it.

Probably have a wheel speed sensor setting off light both abs and trac control run off the wheel speed sensor

I have the same problem with my 99 grand am and the solution they gave me on here was that i had a bad wheel speed sensor. I havn't had my check out to see for sure yet, Don't know if this may help you out.

This is the TCS or Traction Control System. It helps keep the vehicle from being able to get stuck by forcing the torque to either tire. Usually there is a switch either on the dash or on the shifter that says TCS or TRAC press the switch and it should go off.

Sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. You need to have it scanned. Since it's been sitting, it might just be a bad connection to one of the speed sensors.

ABS light is on & Trac off light is on. Transmission does not seem to be shifting with any problem. What should I look for?
