Question about 1992 Honda Accord

I need to replace the brakes on my 92 honda accord DX and when trying to order new ones they needed to know what kind i needed, either Nissin or akebono. We were told to take the tire off and it should be printed on the brake cylinder. We did and it was not printed on it. Now how do I tell what type I need? The engine is a F22A

92 accord no brakes when car first started

Hi Monroe, It sounds as if there is an air leakage into the brake system. It would be a good idea to have a look under the vehicle and discover if there is a leakage and from which wheel cylinder or cylinders. you'll be able to identify the wheel or wheels because the inside of the rim and tyre will appear wet. You will need to replace the damaged brake slave cylinder(s) which will mean a major brake rehabilitation job. If the leakage has come from the wheels, I would suggest you replace the shoes and pads at the same time. Make a drawing not a photograph. If you draw the parts you'll take more notice of the assembly and be able to reassemble more easily. You do not need a new booster! but you may need a new master cylinder in addition to the wheel cylinders. If you need to know how to bleed the brakes let me know and I'll explain. regards John

What kind of catalytic converter should I buy?

Specifically, you need one that fits and performs correctly. A high flow converter is normally for the performance/racing enthusaist. If you are someone who plans on changing the exhaust to a high performance package, then sure. If you plan on keeping the Honda stock, then roll with an oem replacement and that will be fine.

1991 Honda Accord brake light probelm.

Check the prones inside the connector that you plug into the brake light module. You may have to squeeze, wiggle, tilt each one to see which one is not connecting all that good. I know it may sound confusing. I tried to explain the best of I could.

I have a 92 model...

If you are referring to the dashboard brake light indicator, then it could possibly mean:
  • brake fluid in reservoir needs a refill;
  • any of the brake pads needs replacement (it is preferable to replace all at the same time)
  • problem with the brake bypass circuitry of an onboard DVD video player (if one is installed).
If you are referring to the rear brake lights, then it can only mean that there is a short in the wiring harness leading to the rear of the car more specifically involving the rear brake light wire and either an always on +12 or an ignition on +12. To my knowledge there is no always on B+12 wire in the rear harness and the only ignition on B+12 would be the one going to the fuel pump.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
