Check and fix the leaks point. It can be on gear box block, cap, etc.
Don't wait until your gear box gets damaged.

My first question is - have you had the trans filled with fluid ?
If the fluid level is now normal, and you can't shift the gears, you may have damaged the main shaft inside the trans.

The battery light came on and by the time i got home from work there was smoke coming from the engine. i opened the hood and noticed that there was transmission fluid all over the place. there didnt seem...

If it is spraying out like crazy it could be as simple as the dipstick is missing. I would start there. I left my dipstick out once and fluid get everywhere, which would cause the smoking engine effect.

You have a transmission fluid leak fill it up start the car and find it. Its probably a hose from the tranny to the cooler.

My 1999 suburban 1500 slips between shifts in all gears.I checked fluid and looks ok. Any ideas?

the direct clutches are worn out or you have an internal fluid pressure loss, in any event the trans must come apart.

1995 subaru legacy, oil sprays everywhere from one of those hoses, not sure which one and it only comes out when car is turned on.

Hi there! Check the hoses from the transmission to the radiator. Over time they crack and will spray the oil while the engine is running.

Transmission fluid leaking out very quickly. In just a few days

Start vehicle, add fluid until FULL cold mark, raise vehicle in the air,and look for the point of origin of the leak.If the trans is dirty, grimey, greasey,or wet with fluid everywhere to where you can't determine the point of origin of the leak, then clean it thoroughly with spray cans of brake cleaner to degrease and clean it well. Now,start the vehicle again, let it run, raise vehicle back in the air,and LOOK with a light for the point of origin where the fluid is coming from.If you see a drop low on the trans, follow it back up,because it ran down from somewhere.Thats it.You could always have 2 and 3 minor leaks too,at the same time,so just keep that in mind.If leaking from the pan, install a new pan gasket,if leaking from a cooler line, repair the line, etc.
