Sounds like a bad ignition switch. The starter is nothing more than a capacitor that stores enough energy to start the car however the ignition switch permits ignites the fuel to start the engine.

1991 suburban starter not doing anything

check that you have the starter wire on the solenoid correctly
whne you say power to the starter --is that from the battery lead or the small control wires from the ignition switch

Wont start engine doesnt rotate acts like a starter problem replaced battery all connections starter and selnoid

try turning motor over with socket on harmonic ballancer if there is no movement it could be internal (bearings) also check your altenator they sometimes lock up and the starter does not have the power to turn the motor with the altenator. if it does turn check for power on the smaller terminal on the sollenoid when the key is in the start position if there is no power here the problem may be in the ignition switch or safety neutral switch

Noticed a noise coming from ac unit belt. Pulley would not spin unless ac was on. Today after turning off car, tried to start again and it would not engage starter. Had battery power and even tried jumping...

the a/c belt or your a/c should'nt lock your motor as not to start or 'turn over' yout altenator may have went bad, or the battery may have went bad. the only way to know for sure is to have them tested. autozone or an advance auto parts checks both for free. suggest you remove the battery and take it to your choice of the 2 if the battery checks 'good' install it and drive the car to the nearest of the 2 and have the altenator checked for free. either one will not replace the altenator, but at least you will know what's bad. if it turns out to be the altenator, you can drive it with bad altenator w/lights off for about 10 miles.call your mechanic and he or she may be able to meet you at auto parts store and do the replacement there as i do myself. thank you for choosing fixya.com and i look forward to assisting you in the future!

My 2004 330ci won't start, does not turn over. The battery is fine, all electrical in the car work fine, plus trying to jump car does not work & a green light is showing on the battery in the truck....

If the battery is fine, why jump it? Faulty thinking to state or think: all electrical in the car work fine. If it did the starter motor would be turning the engine over. The starter motor work on electrical...not all is fine.

check: 1) 60a starter fuse/relay. 2) voltage to starter when turning key to activate starter motor, this will rule out ignition switch or relay. 3) apply direct voltage to starter motor to detect bad starter motor.

New battery, spark plugs, and the altenator is good, but the car doesn't start...I'm thinking that it is the starter motor but I'm not sure....

check for battery power and signal on solenoid wire, may rectify itself with a gentle tap on the starter solenoid, check operation of starter relay and inhibitor switch.

is the car alarm on? do the head light go dim when you try to start the car up? if they do, its likley to be just a dead flat battery take it off and fully charge it up on a mains charger,,,takes about 2 days??? if its any good! you could try a jump start with a good car battery as well,,,if all this falies look at the starter motor,,,

1996 BMW 328 IC Convertible Altenator ok but not charging battery

Sounds like the alternator may be missing an excitation current source.
Check the 'IGN' dash indicator lights when you turn ignition switch on prior to starting motor,
if not one of the below may be problem:-
1) check exiter control wire is connected to alternator D+ terminal (low current wire, +V with Ign on),
2) replace dash 'IGN' indicator lamp.
