I wouldn't think so, but the radiator may be bad.

Temp gage is solid red, air conditioner is now blowing hot air. Filled coolant reservoir and it emptied while driving but mechanic found no leak with pressure test. Is this a thermostat issue?

I doubt it.
A faulty thermostat would cause the engine to overheat after a few miles of driving. A faulty cooling fan could cause the engine to overheat and also keep the ac from working.
A leaking head gasket could cause overheating, and loss of coolant, but would not affect the ac.

I would like to know if the aux fan sopose to work with the ac of on a2003 bmw x5 please.

Yes the AUX fan must come on when the the AC is running. If your car is overheating change the water pump and thermostat.

Car overheats when AC is on and runs normal temp when off. Changed fan and thermostat no changes.

When you replaced fan and thermostat, did everything get wired back correctly? Sounds like radoator fan is kicking off when AC comes on.

Why won't my cooling fan turn on (swapped thermostat, thermoswitch, fan really)(fans work when hard wired to battery). Causes car to overheat in idle.

depending on the year, there should be 3 relays that control the fans.
There's a rad fan relay (4 pins), an a/c condensor fan relay (4 pins), and a fan control relay (5 pins). This allows them to be run at low speed or high speed. Check the grounds behind/under the righthand headlamp.
Check Fuses 57, 58 (30 Amps) and fuse 46 (15A) under the hood, and fuse 3 (7.5 Amps) in the driver's underdash fusebox.

Had my thermostat radiator replaced 4 weeks ago, driving down the road ac running car started to overheat shut ac off it stopped anyone have this problem

Yes these do happen with the a/c on the condensor gathers heat, thats why the cooling fan is suppose to run when you have the a.c on.You solution is to inspect that the radiator fan goes to high speed, when the a/c iscommaned on.if it does not come on further inspection will be required of the operation of the radiator fan.

Changed water pump on my 98 deville but it stills overheat

What do you think is overheating? 220 is not overheating.
Is the engine cooling fan coming on?
Any debris (dirt, leaves, bugs, birds, etc.) stuck in the radiator or A/C condensor? (the space between the condensor and radiator is like a belly button, its a space that collects a lot of stuff).
Also it is never a bad idea to change the Thermostat.

Car overheats when ac is on

there is a 'high pressure' at your a/c compressor. this is commonly caused by a faulty aux fan (fan for the condenser). have your aux fan serviced.

My 91 Chevy pickup overheats when the AC is running. It normally runs 150 degree, but when the AC runs, it climbs to 220-240. All fluids and belts are OK. Thermostat is OK

is there a grill insert if so remove
is condensor clean (front a/c rad) clean with garden hose pressure
are fins of condensor folded over (they can be comb back to shape)
is engine cooling fan working when engine hot rev engine and look at fan
to see if fan responds to engine rpm properly
if fans electric check to see if power is there when a/c is switch on
should go on immidiatley with a/c switch on
