I have the same problem in my 2003 Altima. I had a friend who works on cars check it out. I watched him and when he removed the panel under the steering wheel next to the driver's door you could hear a clicking noise. He said is sounds like my defogger relay/switch is bad. I located the part and it is not that expensive. I am going to purchase the part and have it put on. I will keep you posted to let you know if it solves my problem. If it does I will give you the name of the part so you can hopefully solve your issue.

outh this mate, it'll have to go back to Nissan to have the alarm recalibrated. It works either on a mercury switch, if you park on a hill for example, it will go off, if someone goes past your vehicle in another vehicle, the back draught will set it off, if some one accidentually falls on your car , it will go off. If you want to test the calibration, park it on a flat road, make sure the car it still, and the alarm is turned on, with the palm of your hand, 'slap' the windscreen. (not so hard as to break it, but just hard enough to make your hand sting!!!!) The alarm snould,go off. Next, do the same thing with the car parked on a hill, start with gentle tap on the screen and then advance to the palm slap. If it goes off early, take it back to nissan and they will charge you about £20 ($40) to adjust

most of the time on nissans the driver window has a seperate relay by itself. look for that. next check for debris in the channels, it is possible that the switch is bad also.
