Tail lights stay on with ignition off

The brakelight switch is located somewhere on your brake pedal arm. On many cars, there is a small rubber piece that the brakelight switch makes contact with. If that piece of rubber falls off the tail lights will stay on all the time. Look around in your floorboard for pieces of rubber or plastic. You can find another piece of rubber and glue it on if this happens. Or if the one that fell off is intact just glue it back on with superglue.

Or the brakelight switch could be stuck.

Brake lights remain on after ignition is turned off

My 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe's rear exterior brake lights would remain on. I did not need to replace the brake switch at this time!

Earlier that day, I'd found several pieces of broken plastic or hard rubber on the driver's side floor mat.

When I inspected the brake pedal, I saw a piece of the plastic/rubber material still hanging on to the pedal, though barely.

I realized that this was a 'stop' or bushing that contacted the shaft that is a part of the switch.

So I replaced it with a small, flat-headed bolt for the time being. I'm not sure if you can buy this plastic/rubber piece only.

Brake lights stay on even when ignition is turned off.

This happens when the brake light switch is out of adjustment or broken. It is mounted on the brake pedal rod just above your foot. Check to see if the nut has come loose on it and it backed off making the brake lights stay on. To repair it shove the switch towards the rod and snug the nut down. If it keeps doing this then the threads on the switch are stripped and need replaced. Very easy to repair. Feel free to ask me any questions if you run into a problem, Rich

Interior light stays on when doors have been locked and doesn't go off. Also when travelling at 10-15ks and you have your foot lightly on the brake peddle you can sometimes feel the abs kick in, Now and...

For the problem with your lights, Have you checked your dome light switch to see of maybe it didnt get switched on somehow? And your brake problem could be that you are low on fluid and the feeling that your experiencing in the pedal could be because you are riding the brakes. It is very very bad for you to even rest your foot on the brake pedal while driving and not directly needing to use the brakes. That can lead to deadly results. I suggest that you start with checking the fluid. If its low or any other color besides clear, I suggest you have your brake system flushed.
