I have a 1985 vett and the dash cluster wont light up

It is a blown fuse,or the dimmer on the headlight switch,the headlight switch would have to be replaced,if nothing else is lighting up.if so.the bulbs are blown,or the connector to the cluster is not making contact.

Gear indicator cable instrument cluster


On the 1985 Continental, you must remove the lower dash knee bolster under the steering wheel to get to the shif column end of the cable.Then disconnect the cable from the lower side of the column. The cable will then come up and out with the instrument cluster.

Replace haeter core 1985 vette


This is a difficult job and usually costs around $600-700. The heater core is located behind your instrument bezel, which has to be removed as well as the dash pad. It's very time consuming and I would recommend using a service manual if you are going to try to do it yourself. Good luck.

TURN SIGNALS DO NOT WORK. FLASHERS, BRAKE AND TAIL LIGHTS DO


There is a can flasher under the dash and another behind the dash cluster.

Had the same thing happen to me changed both and now turn signals work great. I have a '87 camaro.

If the other dash lights are ok, you need to remove the instrument cluster and replace the bulbs on the back side of cluster....

sounds like to me that the motor went out that makes the light go up and down you should proboley get it replaced

HATE to be the bearer of potential bad news BUT , the C4 Vettes are notorious for having dash / instrument cluster woes .
Most likely , yours is a bad one .

did you change the pump with gauge cluster may have put bad pump in. some gauge clusters have built in pumps
