Hi John,
Well John there can be a number of reasons but not knowing ur car
I will say that millage has to do with it alot.
I have an 89 firebird 307 v8 with 198,000 original motor
It runs great but down on power. Basic thing is the motor is getting old
an wearing out. This could be ur reason too.
Also tune ups make a big difference and 3,000 mile oil changes
with good grade oil make a difference !!

The real way to find out is to go to ur repair shop and have them
do a compression test on ur motor. If the compression is low but all
cyclinders are close in comp. its just wearing out but u could have several cyl. down more than 20% compaired to the others.
Could be bad valves seat, bad valve, carbon deposits on the valves,
they can also leak, injectors or carb depending on yr of car needs attention, an it can go on an on!!!!

Ask questions of ur mechanic!!! Then do search on Google on the answers!!! To see if he is telling u the truth!!! Lots of them don't , they just want ur money!!!!!

Good Luck

Suzuki ignis 2002. I have a problem when the car is cool the transmission is ok, the speed past easy. when it run for a while it stay in one speed the 1 speed. Any idea what the problem is

get it serviced? yet? pops to mind first.
get it scanned yet?
your mech will drive it. and see if
1: transmission is messing up, (lots of ways there)
2: or engine power is lacking, or misfiring,
that takes hands no testing. we can do that here, nor tell you.

the top reason is, lack of service.
no car drives for ever, lacking service, zero.

2003 mitsubishi outlander died at stop light. wont start. turns over and has a full tank of gas. is getting fuel to engine.

very poss it could be crank sensor ,broken wire ? timing belt? advise installing scan tool that reads live data check eng rpm on scan tool see if shows eng rpm while cranking , poss remove upper timing belt cover make sure is turning and not damaged, poss computer related problem or power to eng systems would have to check for power at fuel injs and check for ground pulse with logic probe or led test light if crank sensor ok also check for spark at plugs with special plug tester and check codes first

it realy sounds like you have knocked the battery flat try to recharge it for a fuw days on a home charger off the car if poss if not poss that should still charge up but it takes a little longer to fully recharge the battery up but it will take at least two or three dayes to fully recharge it the way to work it out how long it should take is this,,,a 40amp hour battery will take 10 hours to recharge at 4 amps thats its max charge too?
or devide the amp hour by 10,,,ie: 60amp takes at 4 amp =15 hours charging,,,but it can be charged at 6 amps then its only 10 hours,,, i know,,,boring huh?

It dies while im driving i have no controll over the car when this happens

The car dying on you is one thing, the lack of control when it does so is due to the lack of power to the steering system and loss of vacuum to the brake servo. Before the days of power assistance we all had bulging arms and thighs in order to drive:-) You need to diagnose the reason for the sudden cutting out. Without additional symptoms it could be million things but I would concentrate first on 1)fuel getting from the tank to the engine and then 2) on the electrics surrounding all aspects of the ignition path.
