Question about 1995 Ford Escort

1 Answer

I replace the blower fan in my 1998 Ford Escort SE sedan becuase the old motor was shot. (would not run with direct 12V positve and negative leads connected) I check the new motor usig the above technique and it worked fine. Decided to test it using the connector it would be pluged into when properly installed. When I turned on the fan speed control the new motor didn't work. What should and how should I check next. ?

On this model you need to inspect the blower resistor and connector,
a poor connection at the resistor and connector causes heat and burns the wiring.
if its burnt replace the resistor and find a good connector at the salvage yard.
it is near the blower motor

I have a 1998 Ford Escort SE .Where do you find the blower motor fuse and replace it?

It is probably not the fuse it is more than likely the connector. Located where the front passenger sits above their feet. Look for the blue wire

Ford escort 1.8d blower fan not working

All auto fans run on 12-16volts. That voltage should be whatever the cars battery/alternator voltage is at the time. If not working and your blower is checked out as good you more then likely have a bad blower resistor which controls the speeds of the blower. You can verify by pulling the harness to blower and applying 12volts directly to the motor and if it comes on your most likely cause is the resistor

My Friends 2000 Ford Focus Se is not blowing air but the cluch on the compressor is engaging but it is not throwing air out of the vents.... I checked the fuses but dont know how to get to the fan what...

The blower motor is located under the passenger side of the dash. Disconnect the wire harness, key on,heater on, check for power and ground using a volt meter or a test light. If either are missing further checks are required,,, if both are present, replace the blower motor.

Blower on the heater/AC not working on 1998 Escort, checked fuse under dash?

Ok, first off, check the fuses under the dash. If they're all good, does the blower work only on high speed? If yes, then you have a bad blower motor resistor, which is located under the hood, near the blower motor itself. If the motor doesnt work at all at any fan speed, make sure the wiring harness that plugs into the motor under the hood is clean and tightly installed. If it still doesnt operate, sometimes tapping on the blower motor housing will kick it on, but if that doesnt work, you may have to replace the blower motor. They are available aftermarket, and arent usually too expensive.

Car all of a sudden started overheating. Already had timing belt, serpitine belt, spark plugs, water pump and radiator plug replaced 2 months ago -could this be as simple as a thermostat? 135,000 mile 2001...

The thermostat is the most likely problem and also the easiest/cheapest to replace. You could also start by checking the fuse for the electric engine fan, if it is good you could try to disconnect the fan and run 12v ( + and -) to it directly from the battery. It should turn on.
