I had the same problem. You have to buy a bunch of extra parts and even then it probably still wont work. I ended up buying an aux input and hooking it up myself. It took 20 min and sounds great.

yeah dude that happened to me, i put subs in my 05 g6, it supposedly happens when the battery dies or u undo the batter, so i took it too a dealership and they tried making me pay $30 for them to tell me it doesn't work so being the angry person i gave them a few choice words and got out of the nice 30 bucks but they will make u pay for a new stock system for a nice $350 bucks which i told them to go screw themselves and i put the dash kit in so i could read the mpg temp and all that and just put a dvd player in it was better and looks better. and to get ur discs out u pull the stock system out get a screw driver and pliers and start taking the junk apart to get them

first be sure that its the engine light and not the "service" light. the service light will usually illuminate if its time for an oil change. if its the service light ur owners manual should tell u how to reset it. if its ur engine light then try disconnecting ur positive battery cable for 1 minute. that should reset ur ecm and get rid of the engine light. if the engine light comes back on then have a diagnostic scan done to determine whats causing it. Well lets see - resetting the Check Engine light will not, in itself, have anything to do with now not having any heat from your heater.
Why the Check Engine light was on in the first place may have a lot to do with it.
If your engine is low on engine coolant (antifreeze) your heater will not work. Low coolant levels and/or engine overheating will also set fault codes in your computer and turn the Check Engine light on.
It is NEVER good to reset a Check Engine light without properly diagnosing and repairing the reason it was on. At best, it could wreck your catalytic converters, making it extremely expensive to get through an emissions inspection. At worst, it could cost you an engine.

some G6 do not have power streeing pumps
they have ELECTRIC POWER STEERING
all depends on the engine
2.2 4cylinder have electric
3.5V6 can have one or the other
if you have a V6 then you will see the power steering cap through the engine cover on the right side if it has hydralic power steering
