The wire color that actually sends the voltage from key to starter

Without more information regarding make model and year that's a tough one to answer. Most vehicles lately use a starter relay so there is no wire that goes directly from the ignition switch to the starter,it would go from ignition switch to a neutral safety switch then perhaps a anti theft device then to the starter relay, then the starting wire would travel from the starter relay to starter. In older gm products the common ignition to starter wire was purple for years.

I have a 1990 Pontiac Firebird. My problem is the engine will not turn over. It's not the Battery, ECU, starter,or the wire that is hooked to the starter. What else could it be.

There are 2 wires hooked to the starter. One from the battery and one from the ignition switch. the small (ignition) wire has a fusible link in it. Check voltage on the ignition side of the link(12 volts), then on the starter side. Less than 12 volts. replace the link with the same color.

2000 chev wont start at key

From the ignition switch there is a yellow wire that is for the starter. probe it when trying to start. If you have no voltage replace the switch. Also, I believe there is a fusible link in the wire by the starter. It will be a different color than purple. Probe on the back side of it to see if there is voltage at start up. If so, replace with the smae color link.

On low reduction starter there are only 2 wires on standard starter there only 3. One is your hot wire red color coded black is ground and white the ignition switch. If there is more that it probably add on connection for accessories usually goes to hot wire to supply power.

What color is the wire leading out from the PCM to the starter?

There is no wire that comes out of the PCM to the starter. It's a completely different circuit that emulates from the Ignition Switch on the steering column...(which is still interchangeable with General Motors). However, the color of wire that attach's to your starter will either be a solid 14 ga.Brown wire or a 14 ga. Light Green with a Black tracer on it, dependent on which engine you have.
