Not sure if the response is correct since other websites indicate it is # 17 for the OBD and cigarette lighter

P1506 code on my 1999 ford ranger

Here is a link to a page of codes for Ford. I say that but with the OBD-II you should have in your model the codes should be the same for all makes and models Per Uncle Sam.

http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/ford/

your specific code indicates an Idle Air Control Over Speed Error this doesnt mean that there is a problem with the sensor although there cold be a problem with it. It means something made the sensor not work correctly. Dont go replacing parts at random. I did this with my 89 f150 and spent hundreds in parts for a plugged injector. Go figure.

Hope this helps... Dale

I have a 1999 ford ranger 2 wheel drive automatic

Sometimes this works, ABS light on, check engine light on, speedometer not working, and the automatics start shifting hard or not shifting at all? One bolt and the part is cheap, its weird how one part controls so much.

1999 ford ranger 2.5 obd 11 code reader has no power (no response) when plugged in, works in other vehicles, did work 2 wks ago

first check batteries in the reader an dmake sure all the connections leading into the port are good. now find the fuse boxes and check your fuses. if that dosent fix it you will need a multiemeter to test the wiring. Good luck and happyhunting

There likely isn't a timing adjustment. I believe those trucks don't have a conventional distributor and timing is controlled by the computer.
