Question about 2004 Ford Expedition

Open Question

AC fan only blows on high in my 2004 Ford Expedition. It is a standard manual AC main control unit (without Auxiliary or rear AC which is located in the roof control unit) with fan speeds 1,2,3 & 4. Both AC and Heat work but only blows air on speed No. 4. I do not have Electronic Automatic Temp. Control (EATC) and someone already told me it may be either the Heater Blower Controller Module (HBCM) or some resistor behind the glove box attached to the side of the condensation collector box. I need to know the possible causes and solution (fix) for this particular problem along with factory OEM Ford Part No.'s so, I can order the correct part. I have input from the dealer and a friend who is a Cert. Ford Mechanic, both resulted in similar issues but wrong part No's. Please help if you can. Thank you & God Bless.

SOURCE: Heater fan only works on high speed 4.

sounds like the switch is bad. Test the power coming in to the connector and use jumpers to get the fan to operate at all 4 speeds. if it works then it the switch.

SOURCE: Blower fan runs high only on 2006 Ford Explorer

if you have manual control climate control then the system has a blower motor resistor . if you have automatic climate control then the system has a blower motor speed control. in eather case the part is under the dash in the heater box. depending on the system you have, buy the part and then look under the dash for like part, you will half to remove the under dash panels to be able to see. the part will be on the heater box somewhare.

Driver side blows hot air while passenger side blows cold air

You need to replace the driver side temperature blend door actuator , electric motor that controls the temp .The instrument panel may need to be pulled out to replace it . You may want to take it to a qualified repair shop . As far as the rear blower motor , the motor could be bad or the auxiliary blower relay module , or the blower motor relay could be the problem . Without knowing component position in the vehicle you have a difficult time tracking down these parts .

I have a 2004 ford expedition eddie bauer edition and my rear ac top vents are not blowing out any air

If this means that you have no rear air at all, the problem is a cheap resistor that you can replace. Ask a parts house to find the part and show you where it is located. You can do it and it's a cheap, easy fix. If some air is blowing out of other rear vents, then the problem may be a fan and not just the resistor. Air can be blowing out of the front vents like crazy and the problem with the back can be as I described sense front and back have separate resistors.

Item Part Number Description 1 — Air inlet door 2 — Temperature blend door 3 — Headliner airflow 4 — Auxiliary mode door 5 — Floor airflow 6 18476 Heater core 7 19860 Evaporator core 8 19805 Blower motor
The auxiliary A/C and heating system has the following features:
  • The auxiliary A/C and heating system is functional whenever the instrument panel mounted A/C control is in any position except OFF.
  • The auxiliary blower motor recirculates the air inside the vehicle. Outside air is not available to the auxiliary system.
  • Air is cooled and dehumidified by the auxiliary A/C evaporator core only if the instrument panel mounted A/C control is adjusted to a position that requires A/C compressor operation.
  • The temperature blend door and the auxiliary mode door are controlled by electric actuator motors.
  • Movement of the auxiliary temperature control between COOL and WARM causes a corresponding movement of the temperature blend door to mix air flowing through and around the auxiliary heater core.
  • Movement of the auxiliary mode control between PANEL and FLOOR causes a corresponding movement of the auxiliary mode door to direct air flow between the panel (headliner) registers and the floor duct.
---------------------------------------
I would say the auxiliary mode door (#4) electric motor is not wokring.

Auxiliary Blend Door Actuator —Air Distribution Removal and Installation
  1. Remove the RH quarter trim panel cup holder and access panel.
  1. Remove the screws.
  1. Disconnect the blend door actuator electrical connector.
