SOURCE: engine light is on
The engine light could be on for a multitude of reasons. Your best bet is to find a garage that will hook it up to the computer (many do this free of charge) where they can get the code, look it up and find out the cause. I had an uncommon code come up for my car (the light was on when I bought it) that the garage did not know but after running an online search of the code, I found out it was a fan fuse under the hood! The 1st code that came up was for a filter that needed changing and then the light came on again and it was the unknown code. Don't try and guess, it could be almost anything.
