SOUND LIKE IDLE SPEED TOO LOW HAVE IDLE SPEED CHECKED. REPLACE FUEL FILTER IF IT HAS BEEN A LONG WHILE A FAULTY TRANSFER PUMP OR FUEL INJECTION PUMP WILL CAUSE STALLING PROBLEMS

When driving it feels like there is not enough diesel going through as it has no power or just stalled. When you drive it feels like you are driving with the handbrake on. Please advise

Hi Charlotte:
I'd start by making sure the air filter is clean, and would run some fuel conditioner/injector cleaner through it. Had it been sitting a long time? Maybe stale fuel?

Check all vacuum lines. Must be tight fit with no cracks. Cheap to replace.

1994 gmc 2500 diesel 6.5 sarts and stalls. When cold it starts good and drives allways on highway. When stopped for 15 minutes or 30 minutes, it will start but stalls after a few seconds. It will start...

You apparently have a leak in your fuel system that allows air in to the fuel system but doesn't leak fuel out enough to be that noticeable. I found this to be true on my 6.2 diesel, so I put light air pressure to the end of a tank vent line and turned on the little compressor. I found the leak spot right away, made the line repair, and have had no more problems with stalling or over-revving.

My 95' Chevy diesel k2500 stalls out when im driving it. it will idle just fine and starts back up right after stalling. truck will drive about 1 mile before stalling again. What Can I check?

I have replaced many injector driver modules on these diesels. GM has redesigned it and i have never had a replacement one fail. This is a known problem for the 6.5 diesel. Unfortunately its about a 500 dollar part from the dealer, and requires intake removal, and some very tight work space to replace.

Truck stalls and check engine light comes on this happens at no certaint time. when the light goes off it starts. sometimes it shuts down while driving and starts back on its own.

is this a diesel or a gas job? has it been tune up lately? if its a diesel I recommend pulling apart the exhaust backpressure sensor on the front of the engine which screws into a tube which goes to your RH exhaust manifold. If its full of carbon and the tube is plugged up, that will cause it to stall erratically and eventually when fully plugged off, it stalls or may not even starts consistently.

Driving down the road and staled

Is the car diesel or petrol?

If a diesel, you might check the diesel pump drive belt (at the right side of engine when looking at the engine from front of car). It's possible the teeth on the belt have stripped and put the pump timing out. An alternative may be a "stop solenoid" failure. The solenoid stops diesel getting to the injectors when the "ignition" is turned off and "stalls" the engine.

I don't know if the injector pump on a petrol engine has a similar setup as a diesel but it might be worth checking.

2002 oldsmobile intrigue starts but stalls only once.

You have a bad crankshaft position sensor. When the thermostat opens on warmup, the auxiliary air pump starts up momentarily which causes a quick dip in battery voltage and drops the output from the crankshaft rotation sensor. the computer thinks the engine is not running and shuts down the fuel. If idling, engine will die, if moving sometimes will just hiccup.
