Reving problems

The high rev sounds like a vaccumm problem. What year is the vehicle? If its
newer than 1995 it more than likely has a lot of vaccumm operated parts. I would check for leaks and get that out of the way.

Rattle underneath car when the engine is reved in park and when you let off gas going down the road. What should I look for?

a broken engine mount,,

1.) start car in neutral,, with hood popped you will see the engine move ,,

2.) place in a drive gear and you will see it move as well

3.) do the same in reverse it will move as well,,

thats the signs of a broken engine mount..

How can i fix the reving problem i get every time i put the car on park or neutral

Check for gunk buildup around your throttle plates in your throttle body. You can buy intake cleaner to clean this up. Not sure if this car uses a mass airflow sensor either, but if it does, theres 2 tiny wires in there that can get dirty. You can remove the sensor and spray intake cleaner on these as well, but be very very careful.

Gas pedal reving up and not relaxing.

I have had a problem on a 2008 Santa Fe with the gas pedal going to idle while driving. I shut the car off and turned it back on and it behaved normally so I drove it to the dealer. It had triggered the check engine light and the Hyundai mechanics were able to read a code that told them that the problem was in the sensor on the pedal. They replaced it under warranty. No problem since.

I have a 300 tdi discovery 1996 with automatic gearbox. As I drive on the flat the car runs fine. when i try to go up any hill or really put my foot down the engine seems to choke itself up and warning...

check your motor mounts, do this by opening the hood and pushing the car back and letting it rock, if the motor moves more than an inch either way, your motor mounts are bad.
